  • Sorry.  I misunderstood.  It's about whether or not she qualifies as a communist "sympathizer".  And whether or not her "doctrines" are Catholic.
But one thing is necessary. Mary hath chosen the best part, which shall not be taken away from her.

dorothy day and Paul Vi are being rushed to be saints to further push Vatican II.

If dorothy day becomes a saint, then it would be like condoning women having abortions and Catholics being pro choice too.

There are far more worthier Catholics who should have been made saints a long time ago.

She had several lovers, and abortion, and her communist party connections before her conversion.  St. Paul killed Christians before his conversion.  It his how you end the race that matters, not where you start.

As for myself,  I am for Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre to be canonized to be a Saint.

Dorothy day had many men in her life and even an abortion.

rich girl embraces poverty and communism converts to catholicsm writes newpaper for  fighting for workers rights.

    What about the Molly Maguires??

how about all those poor Irish Catholic American women were  baptized Catholic.  They raised their family andwere good wives and Mothers.  They survived the great depression while being persectued by the KKK...

How about St. Francis or St. Augustine?  Both lived dissolute lives before their conversion.

    What nonsense!

    St Paul persecuted Christians.
St Mary Magdalene was a prostitute.
St Augustine fathered a child out of wedlock.
St Margaret of Cortona also had a child out of wedlock.

Saints are allowed to have pasts!

There may be other question marks over her cause for canonisation, but her pre-conversion past is not one of them.

Ah.  I see someone has beaten me too this.

Clare, I down thumbed your post by mistake.  Sorry.

Penitents who went on to live lives of heroic virtue.

This is a far cry from being a child murdering woman who then goes on to become a left-wing agitator piggy-backing on Catholicism.

Yanks seem to think anybody opposing capitalism is a communist.
    How is distributism not Catholic?

  • If a woman murders her own child but then becomes a left-wing agitator, she gets to be a saint.

This is the phony, left-wing, conciliar counter-church.

  • What about a woman who strangles her newborn, then goes to prison for life and lives out a life of penance and prayer without becoming a left-wing agitator?

Is she a candidate for canonization?

  • I'd like to know why I got a thumbs down for merely reiterating Sean's correction of my silly assumption.

At any rate, if Father wanted to wax eloquent about a woman who looked after the poor and neglected as a model for us poor sinners in the pew, he could have spoken about Saint Catherine of Sienna.  Her feast day followed just two days later.
