  • This analogy was as poorly chosen as the "male prostitute" analogy used by Benedict XVI.

  • Zeitun, please explain? Others thought it was a good analogy.  Why don't you?  I don't make the connection with Bxvi 's male prostitute example.

  • Because the analogy wasn't used to defend doing the right thing but rather used to defend doing wrong.

You're talking about Fr Beck's analogy, not the OP's analogy, right?
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

Well...today Fr. Beck was there as announced the previous Sunday...his sermon was about the faith...and he stressed that Catholics must know and live their faith, and the friends one chooses are a reflection of who we are...in other words, a man is only as good as the people he associates with.  He clearly pointed out that those friends we have on the internet are included in this...

Someone on CI showed once how EVERYTHING the Neo-SSPX says can be turned against them. They are actually the best source of warnings to those that want to keep the faith. Above is yet another example.  To say to an SSPX chapel today that "Catholics must know and live their faith,[/b] and the friends one chooses are a reflection of who we are" is right on the money, for the majority of the SSPXers today , do not know the faith and they avoid like the plague anyone that can enlighten them.

Yes, it is true that "Catholics must know and live their faith, and the friends one chooses are a reflection of who we are", that is precisely why we are on CI.

    Very well put.  Thank you.

That's why recording what they say and publishing it has been catastrophic for some of the mouthpieces (Pfluger, Rostand, etc).  I've heard that chapels have quit using PA's during sermons to make it harder to record the sermons.  Not sure if that is true or not.
