Cursed by SSPX Annulments?

  • When the SSPX began granting annulments, as I remember it, at first they denied that they were granting annulments (said they were only verifying the validity of Novus Ordo annulments received by SSPxers), however, eventually it was confirmed that the SSPX was making it's own annulment rulings. I thought to myself, in this they have no authority, and this will curse the SSPX. That was years ago.

Who came up with this idea of the SSPX actually granting annulments?

  •    I have never heard an SSPX priest say they "grant annulments."

So far as I know, they merely give their best opinion on the matter, for the benefit of those who ask to have the matter looked into, or for whom such an inquiry would be necessary to receive certain sacraments at an SSPX chapel.
Romans 5:20 "But where sin increased, grace abounded all the more."

  • Ok, Clint, and all those critical of SSPX "annulments" --

What would YOU suggest, in your great wisdom?

Remember, this Crisis has gone on for some time, and may yet go on. We can't stop founding families, etc. in the meantime. That's why they witness marriages, too -- the marriages will eventually have to be rubber-stamped by Rome when the Crisis ends.

They could send everyone to the Novus Ordo marriage tribunals, but wouldn't they get too many "YES"s then?

Has anyone here actually gone through the SSPX Annulment process, to know exactly what is done, or isn't done?

For those who really don't know, they should SDSU (Sit Down, Be Quiet)

Those are good ideas but reading +Tissier on the subject is even better:

And now, we have a perfectly liberal Pope, my very dear brothers. As he goes to this country [the United States]which is founded upon Masonic principles, that is, of a revolution, of a rebellion against God. And, well, he expressed his admira

Are the only people who are qualified to discuss the matter are those who have a vested interest in the process?

I don't see a problem with priests giving their probable opinion as to validity.

But as for setting up their own process, their own tribunal, which does not go through the diocese, that's something else.  That requires claiming more authority.

can't stop founding families - that's quite a positive spin on the annulment process.

If I recall correctly the  SSPX says on its website it doesn't disturb those who've had annulments and have already remarried.

But if those annulments are invalid (which is quite likely in many cases) then it is objectively bigamy.

It's a very tricky issue, the annulment question really does go to the heart of crisis.

The abuse of the system is so systematic, so grave, it's impossible to believe in the good faith of these annulment tribunals.

When the Dimonds say it's one of the worst things about the "conciliar church" - they are correct.

  • The post-conciliar annulment scandal, by the way, is proof that the conciliar church is not serious about inhibiting feminism or teaching sexual morals.

An issue such as the indissolubility of marriage is where the rubber hits the road.

If clergy can't say no to a woman who wants an annulment without true reason, you can be reasonably sure they are not being firm about anything else. (pertaining to sexual morality)

The problem of annulments goes much, much deeper Tele.
For it is written: I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be dispersed. Matthew 26:31
