  • I was outside the gates of  Court Devenish House yesterday. The house was acquired by the SSPX in Ireland. I was left wondering is this why SSPX folk in Ireland are hesitant to leave the SSPX. I suppose when money has gone to buy the big house, I could see why folk might not want to leave.

Court Devenish House, Court Devenish, Athlone, County Westmeath

    Description
Detached four-bay two-storey over half basement house with attic storey, built c.1791. Extensively renovated and extended in several periods, having doorcase, c.1875, a two-bay two-storey extension to south end, c.1970, and a projecting Doric porch, c.1970, to entrance front (east). Pitched natural slate roof with three dormer windows and with rendered chimneystacks to either end. Roughcast rendered walls over smooth plinth. Square-headed window openings with six-over-six pane timber sliding sash windows. Round-headed doocase with rebated and splayed brick dressing to east elevation. Located in landscaped grounds to north of eastern part of Athlone Town. Cut limestone gate piers and wrought-iron gates to south. Remains of important early seventeenth century Court Devenish House to garden. Boundary wall incorporates sections of the seventeenth century Athlone Town Walls.

    Appraisal
A substantial late eighteenth-century house which retains its early character despite a number of later building works. The irregular layout of the openings and the unusual form suggests that this building may incorporate the remains of an earlier building. This house was built in 1791 using stone from the ruins of the important early-seventeenth century Court Devenish house, which is located a short distance to the east in the front garden of the present house. The original Court Devenish House was largely destroyed during the 1691 siege. It is likely that sections of the mid-seventeenth century Athlone Town Wall are also incorporated into the boundary walls of this property. It remains an attractive element of the historic streetscape of Athlone.

  • I stand corrected but as far as I understand the SSPX chapel in Athlone is property of the SSPX so Bishop Fellay, Dr Krah and others will determine its future.

The timing of the purchase was unfortunate. I will only attend retreats and other activities offered by priests of the resistance.

My point really was if Irish laity have given money to the Neo SSPX, they will be hesitant to leave the SSPX chapels.

Next month will mark the 3rd anniversary of the posting from a 'William of Norwich'. Most Irish SSPX didn't give two hoots about the Zionist infiltration or the revelations in 'Krahgate'.

I was amazed so many in the SSPX still gave money to the Zionist 'pious union'.

Whilst I don't expect a 'New Templar', a Mr Bevan or a Dotty Banks to give a damn, the SSPX laity are very poor.

  • The bulk of the Irish laity are 'Christian Democrats'. Some in their Dublin chapel have contested elections for the Christian Solidarity party. It's laughable.

A few here and there are 'radical' but most are not political types.Political; heavyweights and the folk we need are with the resistance.

  • Even the 'White Nationalist' radio station operated by Michael Quinn did an expose on Dana Rosemary Scallon.

These Christian Democrats in Ireland are a joke.

  • "Some in their Dublin chapel have contested elections for the Christian Solidarity party."

I recall at a pro-life rally a Mr Fitzgerald carrying a placard in mockery of Hitler. I thought what an idiot. I recall the organisers telling him he couldn't display it.

  • My apologies for the harsh comments. It's just I have a strong dislike for parliamentary democracy and regard Christian Democrats/Solidarists as part of the problem. I appreciate many vote 'pro-life' but there is a bigger picture. It's a discussion for the tea room after Mass.

I won't even start on those who await the "Great Monarch".

I was speaking to local people in Athlone last week, who had never heard of the SSPX. Local people betrayed by banks and the system.
