    Translation into English:

March 7th: Communiqué of the Superior of the District of France : Clarification about an anonymous letter

"A letter, supposedly signed by 37 priests of the district of France was published several days ago on an anonymous website.

After taking the time to check this out, we are able to say that it was just a confabulation.

If this is unfortunately true that a few priests did anonymous and gravely subversive actions against the authority of the Society, so that they could obtain the resignation of their superiors, they represent only a small number [of priests].

Three of them have been immediately relieved of their apostolate.

We express our deep sorrow about this attitude, since it does not rest on nothing objective (*). Those priests have been moved by irrational distrust against the authority of the Society when it [the Society] only continues its role of maintaining and defending the faith in the serious crisis that the Church is going through.

In this month of March, as the Society of Saint Pius X is consecrated to Saint Joseph, it hands its confidence in the supernatural help that the patron of the Holy Church never missed to grant.

However hard this trial is, the Society peacefully continues its apostolical work, in faithfulness to the line that his Excellency Archbishop Lefebvre, its founder, to restore everything in Christ.

Father Régis de Cacqueray, Superior of the District of France

(*) The unchanged positions of the Society have been reminded by Bishop Fellay in the conference he gave in Nantes on the 1st of March and by my editorial of the letter to friends and benefactors of March the 3rd."

What personal comment can I do about this communiqué ? That the authorities can't get away with lies and manipulations. God sounds the hearts of everyone. We don't go far with God when we lie, especially if we are Churchmen: they know that God sees them. I let God judge of this. But I can't trust Society authorities in their internal catastrophic management, maneuvers and manipulations. I have for years now, felt manipulated by the Society authorities. And by praying and talking to God to see the truth, I maintain it. Bishop Fellay, by his last word about the priests and saying not to look for the Internet, is locking his faithful up in his lies and manipulations: I am just so happy to be free of his control and not to do what he says, without feeling guilty : I am not guilty Bishop Fellay. If there is someone guilty, this is rather you. You don't impress me. Though I still go to their mass, since I agree with their last conferences (what they said). Contradictory isn't it ? The problem is: the Church has big problems everywhere and I don't see a better place: the SSPX is the only place where Vatican II is denounced with no compromise (necessary if we are catholics).

I am aware that our judgements have a so little importance. Then, let God make me the right judgement and the right things. In Christ.

  • Very disappointing on Fr. Cacqueray's part, but not surprising!

Indeed. With the Rothschild-Gutmann money behind the SSPX they are very much compromised.

    1) In the first sentence, he says this is a complete fabrication;

    2) In the second sentence, he says it might not be a complete fabrication.

    3) In the 3rd sentence he admits it is definately not a complete fabrication.

    4) Has a contageous disease been released from Menzingen that impairs SSPX superiors from talking straight???

Father Cacqueray's notice ends with the wording " by my editorial of the letter to friends and benefactors of March the 3rd." "

Whilst not a Superior, I had a Society priest initially dismiss me as a child, who had read "internet rumour". When I cited facts the cleric changed his tune and knew I was not going to back down. He stated he would raise matter with his Superior.

I wouldn't get too annoyed. The Society will close ranks. I am not that bothered about the politics of the SSPX. They are not the Catholic Church.

Well stated and how tragic priests have manipulated the laity. Shame on them. I am disgusted a priest would manipulate laity.

Even a priest of the Society I spoke to wanted me to believe I had made up material I read to him. As it was factual information he had no choice but to discuss with his superior. What annoys me is he made me to be a liar or that I had read some rubbish to the internet. The difference between him and I is he is the one wearing the clerical collar.

Are they facing up to the turmoil in their pious union or are they trying to blame others?

There is no point in lay folk getting annoyed and Fr Boyle deemed it best not to get involved in SSPX politics.

Unless a member of the SSPX third order which I wouldn't recommended joining laity are not under the control of the liberal Bishop Bernard Fellay. The third order have limited obedience to him. I had considered becoming involved in the third order but a friend prudently advised me not to join. Good advice.

Just for accuracy sake, the real difference between you and the padre is an indelible mark that exists on his soul and not on yours (unless you happen to be a priest).  It is not really relevant to the argument since there are countless men running around with that same indelible mark that do their best to act like they don't have it, but it is a very real distinction that one must always bear in mind.

Just an honest question (not trying to argue here), why would you not recommend joining the Third Order?

  • Well, sspx.org has posted the same letter in a clearer translation, I think (link here)!

     A hoax: letter of
    37 French priests

    3-7-2013 | LA PORTE LATINE

A letter of protest against the SSPX's position vis-à-vis its relations with the Holy See was recently published anonymously on the Internet, purportedly being composed and signed by 37 SSPX priests of the French District.

This press release from the District Superior of France, Fr. Regis de Cacqueray, explains that an investigation into the matter has proven the letter is a forgery.

Communiqué of the District Superior of France:

    Correction concerning an anonymous letter

A letter allegedly signed by 37 priests of the District of France was published a few days ago on an anonymous website.

After taking the time to examine and to try to verify the document, we are now in a position to declare that it was a forgery.

Although it is unfortunately true that some priests in fact resorted to anonymous and seriously subversive schemes against the authority of the Society, going so far as to try to attain the resignation of its superiors, they represent only a very small number.

Three of them had to be relieved of their apostolate immediately.

We express the sorrow that this incident causes us, which is all the more intense because their attitude has no objective foundation whatsoever. These priests allowed themselves to be carried away by an irrational mistrust of the authorities of the Society whereas the latter are only continuing their role of preserving and defending the Faith in the grave crisis that the Church is going through.

In this month of March, as the Society of St. Pius X consecrates itself to St. Joseph, it places its trust more than ever in the supernatural help that the Patron of the Holy Church has never failed to obtain for it.

Whatever may come of this trial, the Society will serenely continue its apostolic work, faithfully following the line set out for it by His Excellency, Archbishop Lefebvre, its founder, so as to restore all things in Christ.

    District Superior of France
