Yes, the +Lefebvre consecrations were motivated by opposition to Modernism in the Church, while the +Williamson consecration was motivated by opposition to non-opposition to Modernism in the Church.  So not at all the same.  We should write up a satirical parody of this thing and sent it back to Menzingen.

The Society of St. Pius X denounces this episcopal consecration of Father Faure, which, despite the assertions of both clerics concerned, is not at all comparable to the consecrations of 1988. All the declarations of Bishop Williamson and Fr. Faure prove abundantly that they no longer recognize the Roman authorities, except in a purely rhetorical manner.

Well, of course this consecration can not be comparable to the consecrations of 1988.  How could it be otherwise. LOL.
We were in SSPX for 10 years.  I don't recall ever hearing about the recognition of the Roman authorities in other than "a purely rhetorical manner,"  do you?  I think maybe most of the lay members  of Immaculate Conception Church in Coeur d'Lene, ID didn't even know the name of the local Ordinary, or whether they were in the diocese of Boise or Spokane.
I predicted on another post that we'd be hearing soon from SSPX headquarters.  Sure enough!  They have sat on it a little longer before reacting to the news.  This news release is absolutely pathetic.

Correction:  "They should have sat on it a little longer..."

Bishop Williamson and Fr. Faure have not been members of the Society of St. Pius X since 2012 and 2014, respectively, because of their violent criticisms of any relations with the Roman authorities. According to them, such contacts were incompatible with the apostolic work of Archbishop Lefebvre.

Can we ask for clarity here?  The news release reports that Fr. Faure has not been a member of SSPX since 2014.  Didn't Father state just prior to the consecration that SSPX would have four bishops if the Society did not move quickly to oust him formally?  Maybe I was imagining it.

Communiqué of the General House of the Society of St. Pius X concerning the episcopal consecration of Father Faure.

You all noticed, didn't you, that every word in the headline, except for propositions and definite articles, was capitalized, and, oh yeah, "episcopal consecration."  This is a small minded bunch, let me tell you.  How we lasted even 10 years in this organization is beyond me!  Just desperate for Tradition, I guess.
