Wow this came out quicker than the "IPSO FACTO" pronouncement after Archbishop Lefebvre's consecrations.  Inline comments.

Communiqué of the General House of the Society of St. Pius X concerning the episcopal consecration of Father Faure.
19-03-2015

On March 19th 2015 Bishop Richard Williamson performed the episcopal consecration of Fr. Jean-Michel Faure at the Benedictine Monastery of the Holy Cross in Nova Friburgo, Brazil.

Bishop Williamson and Fr. Faure have not been members of the Society of St. Pius X since 2012 and 2014, respectively, because of their violent criticisms of any relations with the Roman authorities. According to them, such contacts were incompatible with the apostolic work of Archbishop Lefebvre. Well, the former actually because he questioned the h0Ɩ0cαųst.

The Society of St. Pius X regrets sincerely that this spirit of opposition has led to an episcopal consecration.  In 1988 Archbishop Lefebvre had clearly indicated his intention to consecrate auxiliary bishops who would have no jurisdiction Whereas the intention is for +Faure to actually HAVE jurisdiction., because of the state of necessity in which the Society of St. Pius X and faithful Catholics found themselves at that time. His sole goal was to make available to the faithful the sacraments which priests ordained by the bishops would offer.Whereas the Resistance wants to set up a counter-Church with jurisdiction. After having done everything conceivable to gain permission from the Holy See, Archbishop Lefebvre proceeded with the solemn consecrations on June 30, 1988 before several thousand priests and faithful and hundreds of journalists from around the world. Let's float Bishop Kelly's idea that the consecrations may not be valid because there weren't enough witnesses.  oh ... and +Williamson was ordained with one hand too ! It was abundantly clear from all the circuмstances that, despite the lack of authorization from Rome, this action done in the most public manner was for the good of the Church and of souls.

The Society of St. Pius X denounces this episcopal consecration of Father Faure, which, despite the assertions of both clerics concerned, is not at all comparable to the consecrations of 1988. at all? All the declarations of Bishop Williamson and Fr. Faure prove abundantly that they no longer recognize the Roman authorities, except in a purely rhetorical manner. We on the other hand have shared espresso with the Roman authorites, and had croissants too!  That PROVES we recognize them (in the breaking of the bread).  And our picture of Francis in the vestibule is bigger than theirs!

The Society of St. Pius X still maintains that the present state of necessity renders legitimate its action throughout the world, without denying the legitimate authority of those for whom it continues to pray at every Mass. Has The Resistance gone SV? The Society intends to continue its work of priestly formation according to its statutes. It has every intention to keep the deposit of the Faith and the purity of the Church’s moral teaching, in opposition to errors, from wherever they may come, in order to pass on such Faith and morals in the traditional liturgy and by preaching, in accordance with the missionary spirit of its founder: Credidimus caritati [1 John 4:16].

Obviously they're upset by the new competition.  With bishops tied to the Resistance, they'll quickly start draining numbers from the SSPX.

To take the idea one step further...

What does Rome (and the Neo-SSPX) want from Bishop Williamson?

For him to go away, fade away -- in short, to be quiet and die.

Up till now, he EFFECTIVELY has been given them exactly what they want. He has a weekly blog post, and he's still alive -- but he hasn't been doing much to "embarrass" the Neo-SSPX, or drive a wedge between them and Rome, by consecrating bishop(s) for example.

What I mean is -- the average SSPX "man in the pews" isn't subscribed to Eleison Comments, so for them, +W has ceased to exist.

Right now we see +Fellay trying to keep a foot in both camps -- the Traditional Catholic and the Conciliar Church. So anything that highlights the incompatibility of them will start to pull those two feet of +Fellay further and further apart until he looks like Jean-Claude Van Damme (in every single Van Damme movie, he always finds an excuse to show off his ability to do the "splits")

Consecrating a new Bishop for Tradition -- that might be the thing most calculated to highlight the differences between the Trad in the Pews (who believes in Tradition, its right to exist, the need for resistance to Modernism) and Rome.

Indeed, how can Bishop Fellay (and company) keep both sides happy now? If they condemn the consecration (which they are doing), how can they avoid the charge of hypocrisy, if not schism?

Now, in terms of His Excellency's choice to consecrate another 70+ year-old for a Bishop, given that the role would presumably be to confer the Sacraments and would involve much travel and much energy, my feeling is that the choice was simply "transitional" (as when the Cardinals would sometimes elect a transitional pope when they couldn't really agree on who they wanted long-term) as a safety-valve or backup plan in case something happened to him (the odds of both of them going down simultaneously being slim) ... while he considers the next steps.  Or else, and this is vintage +Williamson, he thinks the ends times are so close that 70+-year-olds will carry the mission through to the end.  And, he probably feels comfortable with +Faure, having known him for so long.

It was *very* deceptive (who is the father of lies again?) for them to imply that the motivation for this consecration was *IN ANY WAY DIFFERENT* from that of +Lefebvre. They go so far as to say it doesn't resemble "at all". They say it's night and day, absolutely different. What a lie!

They imply that unlike +Lefebvre (who didn't intend to set up a new church, nor give jurisdiction to the 4 bishops), +Williamson intends to do both. What a foul lie from the depths of Hell!

These men cannot be trusted. Whoever wrote this communique is working for the devil, who is the father of lies.

This is an OFFICIAL SSPX comminique. Not a rumor, not my imagination, not a mistake. This is why I resist the SSPX and no longer support them. This is why I am opposed to the SSPX as an organization. They have lost it.

That is why I am running an Independent chapel 40 minutes from the closest SSPX chapel. We need viable options for Tradition in this area.
