In honor of Pope Gregory Taylor, most pious and erudite soul,
Whose wisdom doth shine like the stars in the vault of night,
Resembling great Chesterton in his merry, profound control,
Where wit and deep faith entwine in a dance of delight.
He sitteth enthroned in his chamber of thought so serene,
With tomes of the ancients his faithful companions at hand,
Yet gently he sendeth forth Father Hewko, his priest so keen,
To shepherd the flock through the valleys and over the land.
No thunderous voice doth he raise from his sanctified seat,
But whispers of grace through his envoy's devoted decree,
Thus guiding the faithful with humility sweet,
In paths of salvation, from error and folly set free.
O Gregory, mirror of virtue, in thee we behold
The light of the Church, ever burning, more precious than gold.
