It is true that requiring Father Hewko to accept the veracity of N.O. Eucharistic miracles as a litmus test for receiving holy oils is confusing, and, on the face of it, ridiculous.
Reading through the lines though, His Excellency seems to be saying:
“Why should I provide you with Holy Oils after you have publicly tarred and feathered me for the last several years, especially given the fact that we have no formal affiliation?”
Is there any precedent, rule, or Canon Law etc that would require His Excellency to provide Father Hewko with Holy Oils? Maybe Ladislaus or Sean or a poster with knowledge of the subject could chime in.
As to the poster who referenced Fr Hewko’s dealings with the Canadian faithful, I have heard the same thing. It seems that Bishop Williamson is not the only clergy making, on the face of it, unreasonable demands.
Fr Hewko has essentially excommunicated all other traditional clergy axe and sundry, he has demanded that his faithful red light all “compromised” Masses, etc, and now he, and his faithful, are paying the steep price for it.
