  • The Czech faithful were blessed to receive the visit of H.E. Bishop Williamson in Praha a few days ago. His Excellency led a Rosary at the Marian Column in the very centre of Praha, and then gave an inspiring lecture in a nearby conference hall.
    God bless His Excellency !

  • His Lordship is wearing a plain surplice sans stole rather than a rochet and manteletta. Did he forget to pack for his trip or was he caught off guard? Oh well, the SSPX bishops are always going about in mozzettas which they ought not to do. The mozzetta was a jurisdictional garment prior to Montini's 1960s changes to prelatial vesture. Now a mozzetta is ubiquitous amongst Novus Ordo bishops.

  • I think you may well have an unusual view of what comprises a mozzetta. I have always found the SSPX extremely 'low key' when it comes to clerical attire.  It does not do to snipe at His Lordship Bishop Williamson in this manner.  He always believes and teaches the Traditional Catholic Faith. I had the privilege of driving His Lordship several times in the UK on his travels and you could not imagine what a truly humble man he is in personal relationships.

I am not sniping about Bishop Williamson whom I hold in high regard, something that I cannot say regarding Msgr. Fellay. I am genuinely curious how Msgr. Williamson ended up in a surplice. A similar things happened years ago at Lourdes when his Lordship ended up vested differently than Fellay, Tissier de Mallerais, and de Galarreta.

As for the use of the mozzetta prior to Montini's reforms: https://www.newadvent.org/cathen/10624b.htm
