This is one of my biggest worries. I only have the SSPX nearby or an eastern Catholic option (the women don't wear veils from what I've seen from online photos).

If my current traditionally ordained SSPX priests were to die or be moved elsewhere and replaced with a doubtful NO 'priest' or a 'priest' made by 'Bishops' made b Huonder (didn't he die?) then I would be in quite the situation.

I can't exactly move locations atm due to financial tightness but hopefully my priests stay at least until in the future when I will be capable of moving.

This also becomes an issue for courtship. Because if the girls are unwilling to move because of the doubtful orders then I obviously can't marry them lest I risk my soul.. and if there are willing to move but stay in the meanwhile then I will always have to check if the confirmation oils are valid assuming I have children of that age.

So my options would be
1. if not financially stable
a- go to eastern rite if priests are doubtful at SSPX (if I didn't go to an eastern rite would I be failing to keep the Sunday Obligation)
2. If financially stable
 - court girls in local chapel and see if they are willing to move if priests are doubtful
a- worry about confirmation oils for children due to unclear SSPX validity
b- just straight up move to a resistance chapel and court girls there
c- look online for a partner and then move to then or a resistance chapel with them

Or course I have no guarantee that God wills for me to be married so option 2b might be the best choice, but if I did meet a girl online I would may have to move locations a 2nd time assuming the girl doesn't move to me.

This is quite a pain, why can't the SSPX just be clear with sacraments.. by allowing the NO rites they are effectively implying that Archbishop Lefebvre was wrong to make traditional Bishops. After all if the NO rites are valid then why make traditional rite clergy? :fryingpan:

1. I know this is supposedly a thread about SSPX bishops, but this topic here has nothing to do with +de Mallerais, SSPX bishops, or the possibility/impossibility of future SSPX bishops. So I'm diving in.

I don't think God expects anyone to LARP as a Russian, Middle Eastern, Eastern Orthodox, or any other completely foreign culture to attend Mass.

I am 100% western Roman Catholic. My ancestors are from Germany, Ireland, with a bit of other European mixed in (French, Prussian). Notice there is no Eastern anything. I have ZERO cultural connection with any Eastern Rite. Their culture is as foreign to me as China, Africa, or any other exotic culture. WHY would I pretend to be part of their culture every Sunday for Mass?

And of course the Novus Ordo is dangerous to one's very Faith, as PROVEN by 5 1/2 decades of apostasy after 1970. Not even open for debate any more.

So there you have it. If you don't have a Traditional chapel near you, you really don't have much choice. I would add, however, that if you prioritize the Faith (over, say, having the best, highest-paying job market) you can probably arrange it so that you can get to Mass once a month or more. Trad chapels aren't THAT rare, at least not yet.

P.S. If I had been attached to my hometown -- stubbornly -- with the attitude "if there's no one to marry, perhaps it's God's will for me to be single." I might very well still be single to this day.

I ended up meeting my wife on Catholic Match, but she was in Texas and I was in northern Illinois. That's 21 hours of driving with no breaks. (I didn't say no brakes!)

If I had lacked all spirit of adventure, I could very well still be a single man today. Fortunately I was more rational and pragmatic than that. Turns out I made the right decision, in every way. Besides the obvious fact I love my wife and children, meanwhile my hometown is rapidly becoming Detroit II. It was famous for tool & die, manufacturing. We all know what happened to manufacturing in America. Even in the 80's my hometown had countless abandoned buildings that used to be booming factories. My great-uncle used to give me tours and tell me all about it.

There is only 1 chapel in my state (SSPX), I would not have move across the country to get to a resistance chapel, which is not possible for me atm due to financial concerns.
