If one remembers only two things from the 2001 interview, they ought to be item numbers 8 and 16, in whole or in part, viz.
#8, Fellay: To accept the Council is not a problem for us.
#16, Fellay: That gives the impression that we reject all of Vatican II. However, we keep 95% of it.
The Council is no problem, huh? V2 is 95% acceptable, huh? That being the case, why was the SSPX apostolate raised up in the first place. If the Council is really no problem, and if most of it is good, we who have followed ABL for years and have participated in SSPX Sacraments, have given generously to the work of SSPX, have worked within our local chapels, have actively supported its resistance to Rome, have decried the "church" which grew out of V2, have vitually shared in the "excommunication" of the four bishops, have resisted Rome's new direction towards religious liberty and ecuмenism, well, we've done it all essentially for nothing. Why did ABL bother, seeing only 5% of the Council needed adjusting?
