Do not forget that a deal with Rome would mean the Society having to formally end its rhetoric about the 'enemies of the Church' because these same enemies would have to give their approval. The Society is not just coming to terms with concilarism but with its underlying worldly ideology. Dressing up in ancient garb and reciting Latin does not say otherwise.

Judas also dressed up in ancient garb and could no doubt recite in flawless Latin.  Fellay will meet a bad end.

Now let's see what all those sspxers do, who earlier, with forefingers wagging in the air, declared definitely and steadfastly that they'd be the first to leave the sspx once Fellay signed on the dotted line and went back to Rome.

I think most SSPXers will respond in the way most anti-sedevacantists respond when asked what Bergoglio could do to cause them to reject his claim to the papacy.

Not only will they happily become incorporated into the Conciliar church, they will wag their fingers at anyone who leaves the the SSPX and joins the Resistance or goes elsewhere.

Sadly, I think that this is true

I have watched for years as our friends, who remained with the S.S.P.X when we "jumped ship" circa 2012, have kept shifting the "goal posts" on what actions by Bergoglio would cause them to say he's not the pope. I've also seen them shift the goal posts on what would cause them to finally get out of the S.S.P.X because of its compromise.

Surely, SOME people will get out when the personal prelature is officially announced, but the majority will stay. If they haven't left my now with everything that's happened, they never will. They've invested too much time, effort, and money into building up their chapels and are too established and comfortable to go back to garage Masses and long commutes. I'm sure most of our friends think we're insane to drive over an hour to Mass when we are a 3 minute drive from the local S.S.P.X chapel.

  • If this personal prelature thing is such a done deal, why can't the Grand Pooh-Bah of Menzingen simply make a formal statement to the effect?

  • Probably because he has to brand it correctly as per the advice of his branding firm.

The head of the Vatican’s so-called Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei, “Archbishop” Guido Pozzo, has revealed in an interview with the German Christ & Welt that Bp. Bernard Fellay, Superior General of the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX), has agreed to canonical regularization under a personal prelature solution, although details are still being worked out. Pozzo added that this regularization will not take place until the remaining doctrinal issues are resolved, while at the same time clarifying that these issues do not include such “non-essential” and “pastoral” topics as ecuмenism, interreligious dialogue, religious liberty, and the relationship between the Church and the modern world.

So what ARE the doctrinal issues yet to be resolved??   I thought they included ecuмenism, religious liberty, collegiality, etc., but I see that according to "Archbishop" Pozzo, those are just some "non-essential" issues that we needn't worry about.

Did +Fellay really get what he thought he was getting?

Or, maybe that is why +Fellay hasn't made the announcement himself from Menzingen.......

Maybe because it doesn't look like a GOOD deal..........just a done deal.......

My guess is that the doctrinal issues that still have to be worked out mostly involve the "doctrinal questions" about how much money the SSPX and its chapels will have to pay to the Vatican and the dioceses.

  • Well if we're not going to quibble about false ecuмenism, so-called religious liberty or anything else ( important ) then by all means sign and be done with it... :reporter:

Everyone who will leave has already left.  There may be 1 or 2 who will go.  Recently, at our little chapel I noticed an SSPX chapel goer.

Where we are there are little pockets of "trad" Catholics---most of them indult goers or SSPX.  I suspect when the chapel closes, and it will, many will go to the indult masses.
