I wonder if an Eastern Rite priest with biritual faculties would be required to say the New Mass. I remember reading an article about a married byzantine priest who said the TLM, Divine Liturgy, and Novus Ordo.
If a priest is in an Eastern Rite parish under an Eastern Rite Bishop, I don't think that's likely, but if a priest is a sort of solo operator catering maybe to small Greek or Eastern body of faithful, who knows? They sometimes use biritual for NOM & TLM priests, but Eastern or Greek Rite priests offering the Mass of Ages or the Pauline liturgy are the only biritual.
If the rumoured near suppression (now I think the Taylor Marshall idea that it would mean FSSP priests forced to say the New Ordo seems a bit far fetched, surely stripping diocesan priests of the faculties to offer it seems simpler) comes to pass, hopefully there will be Conciliar priests willing to abandon the relative security of their circuмstances for a traditional Mass circuit which is a far harder thing.
I sympathize. I don't know why any priest would bother giving his life to say the Novus Ordo.
All the priests in the famous book "Priest, Where is Thy Mass?" said the same thing: that they finally felt like a real priest when they discovered and said their first Tridentine Mass. And all those in the book never looked back.
At least working at wal-mart facilitates people getting needed groceries and other merchandise. Saying the Novus Ordo? All it accomplishes is a diminution of the Faith, a loss of belief in countless Catholic dogmas, and the destruction of the Church.
Better for a priest to retire, if he doesn't have the courage to be Traditional and "disobey" man to follow God in the Traditional Movement.
Even Walmart can be a basis for starting out offering Mass in front rooms or sheds. And Walmart (apart from their bicycles, for one nearly killed me) is a far more useful thing that the New Ordo which just demoralises.
Part of me thinks nothing will happen. Francis never denied rumours that went out before about suppression, but didn't mind agitating people he despised. Who knows (except Francis and crew obviously)?
