  • I have uploaded high-resolution photos to dropbox of the Bishop's first low Mass:

The camera was not high-end but the quality looks like it might be pretty good.  I am ordering a couple 8x10 prints from mpix.com and will let you know how it looks (in a couple weeks...).

  • Thank you very much, jxtrqmvxuh!

That’s the first series of pictures, that contains ordered and good quality pictures of Bishop Zendejas. (I'm really astonished, that until now, just a few "crumbs" have reached the public.)

Very well done! Thanks for sharing!

    First of all, "crumbs"!?

I've uploaded not just still-shots, but entire videos of BOTH ceremonies, plus as much of the Banquet as my phone would let me record. The video was uploaded as fast as I could. Photos and videos are different things I understand, each is good for different purposes, but I still wouldn't call a full video-and-sound capture of the event "crumbs"!

My next thought is: maybe you should have put your money where your mouth is, and upgraded my flight home to a direct flight so I wouldn't have had to spend 3.5 extra hours on Saturday at Dallas airport. Maybe that would have sped things up a bit.

But there's no evil, dark conspiracy to keep the pictures out of your hands, don't worry.

You do realize that the Consecration just happened, right? Virtually everyone who attended the Consecration also attended the Pontifical High Mass the next day. And many of those also attended the potluck, which went until Friday early evening. Maybe some locals went home that night, or caught a late flight home. But my flight wasn't until 11:00 the next day (Saturday).

Where was I on Saturday? I left my hotel room at 9:45 AM and arrived home (Texas) at 8:10 PM. Oh, and my wife wanted to pick up some groceries on the way home, since she isn't accustomed to taking 6 young children (including a baby) shopping by herself. (I've worked from home since 2004 -- before I got married.) So that's how my Saturday was spent.

I got back late on Saturday night and I'm just now getting caught up. It took me until Tuesday morning (right now) to get all the video segments named and uploaded to Youtube, plus get my suitcase unpacked, etc. I still have to sort through the photos. I did manage to backup everything to DVDs -- it took (5) DVDs holding 4.7 GB each.

As you might have noticed, I have also created several threads on CI advertising specific items, over the past 2 days.
To slow things down further, I discovered a program with CathInfo's software when I tried to upload some high-resolution photos. The software takes each photo you upload and creates a "thumbnail" of it for display inside the post. But to do this, a certain amount of memory has to be allocated -- but the software was limiting itself to only 90 MB which apparently isn't enough for certain super high-res photographs (like the ones taken by Fr. Ortiz). So I had to track down and fix that problem on Sunday.

Sorry, my native language is German. I tried (obviously incorrect) to express, that just a few pictures here, and a few pictures there surfaced on the internet in the past days. No series of pictures from the consecration or nothing from which an interested absentee from Europe could get an idea from the festivity (e.g. pictures of the location, the number of faithful,…). – That’s not an allegation, but an astonished detection.

With today’s technical possibilities even a live stream via smartphone would be no problem. However I’m not talking about live streaming or video uploading, but about pictures. Depending on picture size and your mobile internet connection, it’s a question of a few minutes to upload 10, 20,… snapshots. (Admittedly not high quality pictures with many MB’s each, unless you have a good 4G connection.)

That didn’t happen, and that’s what surprises me, given that about 500(?) faithful attended this important consecration. Even until today I’m not aware of a larger series of picture from the consecration. (Maybe I’m spoiled by the very good and fast docuмentation of Bishop Thomas’ consecration in Brazil last year. Within hours more than 60 pictures from the whole ceremony surfaced on the internet.)

Nonetheless I’m very thankful about your work, Matthew. The videos are wonderful, well labeled and subdivided, and an important docuмentation of this major event. Thanks to your efforts I could already listen to the sermons of Msgr. Williamson. Bravo! :applause:

  • America is probably close to dead-last when it comes to speed, availability of Wifi, and general broadband Internet coverage in general -- at least among advanced/Western countries.

For one thing, America is much more spread out than Europe.

There was no Internet available at the Consecrations, for example. I didn't have cell phone service, so I couldn't upload anything live.

Also, there was a restriction on who was supposed to be taking pictures. Just the official videographer (SoldierOfCTK, B. T.), Fr. Ortiz, and myself were given permission to photograph/videograph/record the event.
