I have it from a  reputable source  that was at the talk by X. That he said they had introduced a book. into [college X] that had been banned by the prevatican II church that it had  sɛҳuąƖity in it, that it had been banned by several countries including Ireland. My Question is why are they bringing this kind of crap into [college X]? This is the same process the modernists use in bringing down the church after Vatican II . Is X a modernist ? His track record at college X is surely starting to point that way. It could be because he's a convert and missed that class on modernism. Where is Y standing on this situation ? Is he going along with this , his buddy, X ,or will he speak up for what the church has always upheld on immoral books etc. Wakeup [college X], your faith is being subverted just like what happened at Vatican II. fIGHT FOR YOUR FAITH DAILY, THE DEVIL NEVER SLEEPS.

  • What's the book called?
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

  • "I have it from a reputable source...."

Not a good way to start.

An anonymous claim regarding an unnamed book, which in any case cannot be proven to have been inserted into the curriculum.

But no hesitation in throwing out X's name...or Y's.

Rom 5: 20 - "But where sin increased, grace abounded all the more."

    1. You were very vague. Almost exactly the kind of legendary "rumor" that accordistas think is common, everyday fare on CathInfo. Of course they're wrong! -- every time an actual slander/rumor appears, it stands out like a sore thumb and gets moderated.

It's as if you're trying to smear CathInfo's reputation. Whether on purpose or on accident, I'm not going to let that happen.

    2. Your grammar, punctuation, etc. is very poor, and doesn't add any credibility to your assertion. In fact, it takes quite a bit away.

    3. How can you know anything about Modernism when you can't even spell Pascendi?

    4. Let's stick to the facts, Jack.

Well I guess the rumor got smashed all right because it's not recognizable.

I saw the thread title, "Watch Matthew smash an actual rumor on CI," and by the time I read the OP it was smashed to pieces.

Maybe the title should say, "Come see what's left after Matthew smashed an actual rumor on CI?"

Maybe it would be helpful to know if X = +W and Y = M?  (like as if it were a math problem) (but I'm lost on the ID of the college -- not Winona, obviously... St. Mary's?)

This might be a great topic for a poll, one where people reveal their Trad attitudes in their votes. How about including St. Mary's for R&Rs, Christendom or Fisher More for Reform of the Reform types, Ave Maria for fans of Domino's,* and Villanova for serious drinkers? I can't think of a place that would bring the SV mob out of the woodwork; can you? Finally, toss in Harvard or Yale to fool people into thinking that the poll is serious.
    ______________
*I know that there's nothing Trad about Domino's. Big deal. I bet it will generate comments, though.

We conclude logically that religion can give an efficacious and truly realistic answer to the great modern problems only if it is a religion that is profoundly lived, not simply a superficial and cheap religion made up of some vocal prayers and some ceremonies...

  • Matthew, I will try to straighten this out. First I did not try to ruin or destroy cathinfo's reputation. There was a talk given at said school hall, it was   attended by about 50 people. There is a close connection between the speaker and the superior in charge at said school. Whatever the speaker has chosen to do in the past ,the superior backs up to the fullest ,right or wrong. The speaker at the talk is or has modernist tendencies. This is why I was concerned about the book  being introduced at the school. There is something seriously wrong going on at the school I mentioned .The speaker is given free rein with no repercussions.

As you know, I have no problem with CathInfo being the "WikiLeaks" of the Trad world. My goal for CI is to be the premier source of FREE and UNHINDERED information about all the important topics Traditional Catholics are concerned about. In other words, CathInfo will allow anything as long as it's likely true/factual.

However, some enemies have smeared CathInfo (and the entire Resistance) as being a bunch of spiritually defunct, bitty old ladies spreading gossip and rumor. That couldn't be farther from the truth, but I have to be careful about allowing posts that DO savor of those things.

If you have facts, you can post them. I notice you didn't mention the name of the controversial book. Why don't we start there. Does the book have actual Modernism, or is that just the opinion of some?

Usually if you're going to take the BOLD STEP (and it is a very bold step, let's not forget) of saying something less-than-flattering about a priest, there had better be reams of evidence.

For example, there is reams of evidence in the public domain about what Bp. Fellay, Fr. Rostand, and others are doing to remodel the SSPX and/or sell it out to Modernist Rome.

But if you only have one thing you can talk about, and you can't even say much about that -- it's best to remain silent.

That's exactly how the neo-SSPX behaves. They throw vague accusations and call names, but never bring up any hard facts or evidence. We can't descend to their level, and I won't allow posts of that calibre on CathInfo.

    We can't become our enemy.

  • It certainly is a timely post.  There are tons of parents investigating where to send their sons and daughters next year; discussion as to the whys and the wherefores of moving a traditional Catholic seminary into the cesspool known the world over as Washington, DC; the former assistant at Winona, after having caused the Diocese of Scranton , Pa. pay millions to his sɛҳuąƖ perversion victims, is just recently named Vicar General of the Diocese of Bogata, Columbia (no--you can't make this stuff up!); three ex-SSPX priests fight charges that they lead gαy lifestyles; another current SSPX priest is given two years in a monastery by Bp. Fellay, before the police finally arrest him on rape and torture charges, crimes kept quiet for over two years by Fellay and Co.
So, the topic is surely timely--and very important! Parents have to keep their eyes wide open-- I mean W-I-D-E open! Catcher in the Rye, which we were Forbidden to read in the Catholic schools of the 1970's, shows up as " suggested reading" for high school boys in a traditional Catholic school!
The original poster should verify as much as he can, hopefully all the details, and repost it again! Let the calls to the administrators begin! Give Rostand one more opportunity to tip toe through another "against the Rumours" video!
