Can anyone verify, or does anyone know for a fact if he (Fr. Gruner) is supportive of the Resistance?
When John Vennari was asked, his reply was that Fr. Gruner goes anywhere he is invited, and is "neutral".
Hmm. We all know that Fr. Gruner and John Vennari are pretty tight. Fr. Gruner, to my knowledge, has never voiced any support of the "resistance." Safe to say, I think, Father has never mentioned the word "resistance," nor has he discussed it on any level. If I'm wrong, please someone, point me to an article, to an interview, to a recorded statement on the part of Fr. Gruner, wherein he has taken up this subject or mentioned it in any context. I am unaware of any.
What is more, and what makes this appearance of Fr. Gruner at a Bishop Williamson event even more flabbergasting, IMO, is that, again to my knowledge, Fr. Gruner never talks about Bp. Williamson, either positively or negatively. In fact, if all one had for traditional Catholic internet sources, were Fr. Gruner and John Vennari's web sites, one would perhaps not even know that Bp. Williamson even existed or was a player on the Catholic scene in any capacity whatsoever.
As for John Vennari and neutrality. Fr. Gruner may indeed be neutral. I'm not so sure that John is. It seems to me that Mr. Vennari is very much attuned to the Bp. Fellay and the SSPX, and indeed, very supportive of them. John, like Fr. Gruner, does not say boo about the "resistance," as I indicated above. If I'm not mistaken, taking it a bit further, neither John nor Fr. Gruner appear to recognize that there are real problems in the sspx apostolate, that there is uneasiness and unrest within the priestly ranks, that a number of sspx priests have either left voluntarily or been ejected by the superior general, that liberalism has crept into the Society's upper ranks, that the archbishop's guiding principles have been severely compromised, etc
I have written to both these men in the past, seeking and explanation for the issues I raise above. To date I have never gotten any response, not a word, not even computer generated acknowledgment that my inquiries had been received.
So I guess I'm asking: What's up with Fr. Gruner? Is he having a few non-neutral thoughts these days?
