  • The Stage:

    1) A hall is rented to accommodate the 90 people who RSVP'd to privately mailed invitations;

    2) A Communion count is conducted, and 75 souls raise hands to be counted;

    3) Confirmation sermon begins ahead of the Mass, but people continue to trickle in throughout the afternoon;

    4) Last head count stood at 94 persons (only 90 were invited);

    5) Bear in mind that these were all "friendlies;"

    6) That the event took place mid-week;

    7) During working hours;

    8) And of the 94 that showed up, many could not arrange to bring spouses and children (which, had they been able to, would have added another 40-50 people to the total)

    The Sermon and Conference:

    1) The Confirmation sermon was recorded, and will be placed on Youtube in the next couple days;

    2) The Conference following dinner was likewise taped, and will also appear on Youtube in the next couple days;

    3) The conference sermon subject "The Rise and Fall of Catholicism in the 7 Ages of the Church;"

    4) It is the best conference I have see of His Lordship to date (and that is saying a lot);

    5) I will not go into details of either the confirmation sermon or the conference, since both will shortly appear on Youtube soon.

    Q/A: One excerpt

    1) Internet Anonymity:
    His Lordship said it was unmanly; that is was the cause of people saying many things they would not otherwise say had their identities been known; that we ought to stand for the truth and let the chips fall where they may; that if we were not willing to do this, we ought not post on the internet.
    Note: In response to this answer (the question having been asked by me), I will shortly reveal my identity in a subsequent post;

    I will not recount all the rest, as it will shortly appear on Youtube.

  • I should also add that His Excellency understood reasons people would want to remain anonymous (as you will see/hear in the video once it is posted), but he clearly viewed standing by your posts as the higher road, for the reasons given in the previous post.

  • That's good to hear.

    Because there is more than one way to "stand by your posts" and be nonymous (having a name/identity) than to use your first AND last name.

    Considering I've already been "martyred" for the cause, I'd say I've done quite a good job of sticking my neck out. Even though my screen name doesn't follow the format FirstnameLastname. The proof is in the pudding, as they say.

    I am well aware that my posts are read, and that there are consequences, often real-world ones. I actually don't have a problem with flying off the handle or getting too emotional.

    Maybe it depends on the individual?  I think there are many factors that go into an online persona. One that is well-invested and many years old is as valuable to a person as one's real-world persona.

    Heck, more people know "Matthew of CathInfo" than Matthew _____.
    If I had to choose which one gets slandered as a kleptomaniac, homicidal, transsɛҳuąƖ pedophile, I don't know that I'd be able to choose.

    It's just that I don't need people showing up at my door, or calling me on the phone to harass me and my family. In my case, it's not just about standing behind my posts, but rather my position as owner of the forum. I'm too high-profile. Anyone I have to ban as part of my job might get ticked off and want revenge.

    In case there is any confusion, I have no problem with +W's advice, and your subsequent actions.

    It should be noted that I have done all kinds of gutsy things thus far *despite* the fact that there is no active Resistance Mass available to me, or anyone within a 500 mile radius.
    Texas (not a small state!) along with all surrounding states: New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, etc. has ZERO in the way of Resistance centers.

    Read my thread about Texas getting "skipped".  I started the location here, but without a priest to service it, it might as well not exist.

    I have many interested parties here, despite an SSPX chapel population of only 250. But we haven't really got things going here, since we've only had (1) last-minute visit on February 15. So if I got myself kicked out of the local chapel, for example, I'd really be in trouble. Not just 2 or 3 Sundays a month, but all 4.5 Sundays!

    And my lack of last name hasn't been any problem so far, for the 8 people from my chapel who wrote a letter to Fr. Rostand complaining of my wife's role as Treasurer. They managed to link Matthew at the chapel with the Matthew on CathInfo just fine.

    I would say that proves I'm not "Anonymous", even though I habitually fail to give out my last name.

    So I think the issue of "screen name" is a nuanced one.

    I can't help but admire that you're willing to put your head on the block. But you should note that the admiration comes from a man who is currently "headless".

    :wink:

    Sincerely,

    Matthew
