Bump (Since I posted it during rush hour this AM, and looks like it might disappear from front page before people get home from work).

It was about 15 years ago when I first heard a confirmation sermon by
this same bishop.  It had a much more urgent aspect than this sermon,
but it was the same general style.  It had the effect of "confirming" my
return to the traditional faith, although I don't think I thought of it that
way at the time.

I still recall how he walked into the chapel as we sang the processional
hymn, and we finished singing just as he ascended the steps of the
sanctuary.  He turned around, thumped his crosier on the wooden
platform he was standing on, and the whole chapel resounded with the
sound of that impact from his crosier.

He began a powerful delivery that "did not take any prisoners."  At the
time ABL had just passed away a few years before, and this, now, we
know, was the time when +Fellay was beginning his support of the now
exposed GREC.  At that time, GREC was very much concealed for it was
not even a public entity in France, but its meetings were conducted in
secret, really, otherwise known as "private."  Even so, it's easy to see
that +Williamson must have known that "something was up."  Because
he was bristling with power and urging the Faithful to be ever-vigilant.

I must admit, at the time, I did not much understand why he would be
so piqued with a cautionary and present reality of danger.  It seems
now he must have had a sixth sense.  If he had known at that time
about +Fellay's dealings with GREC, it seems to me he would have
made some announcements.  But perhaps GREC did not appear to be
much of a threat, if +W had known any of its specifics.  I am inclined
to suppose he was unaware of any specifics in that regard.

The enemy does not have any reason to let you know what he's up to.
By keeping you ignorant of his plans, he is able to lay them in secret
and do much more damage, since attacks against you that you do not
know about are attacks against which you cannot prepare yourself to
defend.  And an enemy that is less prepared for battle is an enemy that
is easier to defeat.

Witness today those Catholics who do not even now know about GREC
nor, when you try to tell them, do they want to hear it!

This brief sermon is about them, in passing, and more.  You can hear
the fatigue in His voice.  You can see the weight of his cross that bears
down upon his shoulders.  And by his example, hopefully, we will all
have the courage to "take up our cross and follow Him" Who leads the
way by His Example.

SJ -- it helps for future reference when you put the date of the sermon in
the title,
for then members can see what year, month and day it was given,
when looking at the thread title in the index page without having to wait for
the computer to load the thread.  When you are paging around looking for
something, it is very tedious to have to open many threads looking for the
key information.
