  • I believe this video is of great interest to those who are worried about the direction of the SSPX. It gives us a glimpse of the thinking of the SSPX in 1991 and is in some ways a snapshot of the "Traditional movement" 22 years ago.

Matthew made a good point to me in saying that this can be part of the puzzle in understanding that there has been a change in the direction of the SSPX.

Let this video speak for itself but I would like everyone's input. Here is a description of the video:

Reception given in Buffalo, NY for the occasion of Fr. Victor Mroz's fifty years as a priest.

Fr. Mroz was a traditional Franciscan priest who personally knew St Maximillian Kolbe in Poland. He worked with the SSPX later in life and bequeathed the chapel to the SSPX upon his death in 1992.

Some of the speakers include: Bishop Richard Williamson, Fr. Peter Scott, Fr. Ward, Fr. Lafitte, and Fr. Nicholas Gruner.

This is a marvelous video - thank you obscurus!

This July 19th would have been Fr. Mroz's 72nd anniversary!

Unfortunately, the sound quality is terrible.  Does anyone know
of a better quality version or perhaps an old, dusty VLC
    recording?

Curiously, Msgr. W seems to have not changed at all.  He could
easily be seen to give this same speech today.

Fr. Scott exhibits the practice of looking ABOVE the heads of his
audience, as if he must be afraid of losing concentration when
    he makes eye contact.

Fr. Ward likewise has not changed at all, and today, he could easily
say the same words as he does in this short speech.

Fr. Gruner alone has the gumption to pick up the microphone,
which he apparently heard was not very effective, and held
it close to his mouth to give the recording the highest fidelity
possible given the extant equipment.  Even so, some of his
    words are not discernible.

Fr. Gruner speaks for 7.5 minutes.  He speaks on RESISTANCE, and
takes the topic back to the Council of Ephesus in the 4th century.
Curiously, that was the time before the beginnings of St. Patrick of
Ireland.  But today, nobody ever says, "..of Ireland," because it's
redundant.  One could almost say that Catholic Ireland is "of St.
    Patrick!"

At minute 21, the young sub-deacon Mr. David Hewko takes
    a bow!

From minute 22 to 25 a layman speaks and provides in retrospect
an example of the profound difference between the words of a
priest and those of a layman.  He talks about cities, distances,
expectations, personalities, schedules and other worldly concerns.
The priests cannot help but touch on the spiritual, however.

At 40:50 the camera pans the auditorium to show the faces of
    those present

At minute 41 Fr. Mroz takes the stand.

I find it telling that in his talk, he mentions how Fr. Maximilian Kolbe
survived Fr. Mroz's ordination by a couple of weeks, in 1941. When
he reminds us that the Gestapo killed St. Kolbe by injecting
    his veins with poison,
I recall that the current practice of
capital punishment in California is likewise by lethal injection.

    Therefore,
since it is an indisputable matter of historical record that this same
method was used by the nαzιs, is not this society that accuses
Bishop Williamson of so-called heresy for denying the fables of
nαzι practice, itself practicing that which cannot be denied in fact?

Bishop Williamson is shown seated at the right hand of Fr. Mroz.
