Post by: McCheese on June 07, 2019, 10:59:02 AM
Does anyone have any history on Bishop Joseph Mascek?

Spell it correctly and do a Google search, and you'll find some things.  Google:  "Bishop Joseph Macek".

I see a few things on Google but I don't see anything on who ordained him or consecrated him a bishop... does anyone know?

He's SVM, so probably Bishop Patrick Taylor.  They're a blend of Costa and Thuc lines.  Reportedly Macek has been re-ordained multiple times, so your guess is as good as mine.

Anyone from the Costa line I wouldn’t touch with a ten foot poll, unless there was an absolute emergency.

I know Mascek is Thuc line -- what is the Costa line?

Ditto, nor any of the strange barely-docuмented Thuc lines.  Some Thuc lines are solid, others extremely nebulous.

I agree, I would only stick to the Carmona, Zamora, and des Lauriers lines.

Bishop Joseph S. Macek was ordained conditionally by Bishop Patrick C. Taylor on December 18, 1998 in Beckley, WV. His episcopal consecration was on November 18, 1999, by Bishop Patrick C. Taylor, SVM (same location). Then on November 27, 2001 Bishop Merill Adamson, SOLG conditionally consecrated Bishop Macek & Bishop Taylor in San Francisco, CA.

The line from the excommunicated bishop Duarte Costa.  He was excommunicated by Pope Pius XII.  He founded the schismatic “Brazilian Catholic Apostolic Church” which continues even to this day.

Are you saying that Duarte Costa lines are of doubtful validity?  And if so, may we receive sacraments from priests whose orders are doubtful, if there is no other way of receiving the sacraments?

I'm taking no position one way or the other.  I am just posing a question.

My advice:  avoid these Bishops/priests until we hear from Rome (real Rome) as to whether they are safe to go to in an emergency.
