  • "Now, sometimes, unfortunately, also priests do serious things, and they need to be punished, and when it is very very serious, we have to make recourse to Rome, so we do.  And what does the Congregation of the Faith do?  Well, they did appoint me as the judge for this case.  So I was appointed by Rome, by the Congregation of the Faith to make judgements, canonical Church judgements on some of our priests who belong to the non-existent Society for them and so once again a beautiful contradiction indeed."

We conclude logically that religion can give an efficacious and truly realistic answer to the great modern problems only if it is a religion that is profoundly lived, not simply a superficial and cheap religion made up of some vocal prayers and some ceremonies...

  • So Bp. Fellay is already under Rome, when did his appointment take place?

  • It is incredible what Bishop Fellay says at minute mark 35:11:

    (minute 34:36)
"We are dealed with now as being irregular, at best.  Irregular means you cannot anything and so for an example they have prohibited us from saying Mass in the churches in Rome, for the Dominican sisters who had their pilgrimage in Rome in February, they say "no  you cannot because you are irregular".  And these people say that, they are people Ecclesia Dei.

"Now, sometimes, unfortunately, also priests do serious things, and they need to be punished, and when it is very very serious, we have to make recourse to Rome, so we do.

So there we have it.  Bishop Williamson and the priests expelled from the SSPX were sanctioned with powers previously and expressly granted to the Superior General, ad hoc judge, of the SSPX by the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith.  Now we know why the 1983 Code of Canon Law was used in the trials against the priests that oppose an agreement!

They were all expelled by Conciliar Rome through Bishop Fellay! Incredible!!!!

    INCREDIBLE !!!

Obviously there are more things in the video, for instance, he claims that the Francis says he will never "hurt the Society" or keep people from going to the Society.

  • If the SSPX requests and/or requires the "permission from Rome" on these so-called "canonical proceedings" censures, suspensions of priests, etc. why don't they accept the authority of the local bishops?  It makes no sense.  Both authorities use the 1983 Code of Canon Law (which is the re-affirmation of Vatican II in canonical language).

If Bishop Fellay wishes to talk about "contradictions" he would do well to address the "plank" of contradictions in the SSPX FIRST before attempting to remove "the speck" of contradictions that lie in Rome.

I thought people might jump on that but then it got me thinking to far more serious issues like Priests ordained in the SSPX who have gotten into moral problems and needed laicization - the same issues came up for Archbishop Lefebvre. Quite a lot of what +F had to say was very old news even the stuff about Francesco was mostly when he was still in Buenos Aires - we are too hasty to read the current events into the story he carefully wove. I have no doubt the regularization is de facto and will take the form of gradualism but watch more carefully the method used in the video not the events he reported. He was weaving a very careful and skillful web - he has Romanita !

  • It is important to know when Bp. Fellay said these things.  Was it in Arcadia, CA on May 10, the daily following Fr. Gruner's funeral Mass?  I think it was, but I want to be absolutely sure.  Was the talk delivered in the Arcadia SSPX chapel, or elsewhere.  How many were in attendance.  Was the event limited to priests, or were other faithful invited.  For me anyway, the circuмstances surrounding these remarks are important.

This is Sunday, May 10th, Mother's Day, in Arcadia, CA,  at Our Lady Queen of Angels chapel.  It looked to me like it was his sermon on that day.  Sad to say he has moved so far away from the thinking of Archbishop Lefebvre concerning Rome you can hardly recognize what he says as coming from the same Society.  Bishop Fellay has become an embarrassment to watch and listen to.

  • I hate to say this about any priest, but if it's true, what a two-faced traitor he's turned out to be.
"This principle is most certain: The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope. The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member. Now, he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian, St. Athanasius, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and others. Therefore, the manifest heretic cannot be Pope." -- St. Robert Bellarmine

This sounds like a joke!  Rome appoints Bishop Fellay to make canonical judgements on Society priests while they don't recognize the Society canonically (supposedly).  Is Bishop Fellay so deluded as to not recognize that he is being used by Rome to self-destruct his own Society without Rome having to do anything.  He is being made a fool of and doesn't see it.

Not really, you have the law, the letter of the law, the spirit of the law and the way around the law - which do you think they were all using ? Rome has always been a law unto itself - we are only looking at the post Vatican 2 expression of these principles.

Okay, if what you say is right, can we conclude that in essence there is no law or that all law has become subjective?  Is that what you are saying?

  • Maybe I'm overreacting entirely, but has not Bp. Fellay announced, in effect. that, though  Society priests are not authorized presently to clean toilets in the Vatican, he, Bp. Fellay, nevertheless, has been tasked by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith to censure and discipline errant SSPX priests and bishops?  that he has been appointed to "make canonical Church judgements on some of (his) priests"

So then, here we are:  +Fellay recognizes the Society's position as "irregular."  He accepts the  fact that Society priests "can not (do) anything" legitimately in the Catholic Church.   (Benedict XVI indicated this much in a letter to his bishops soon after the "excommunications" were lifted.)  Society priests can not say Masses in the churches of Rome.  But, by golly, +Fellay can deal with the perceived disobedience and folly of his own "irregular" clerics, and Rome makes it incuмbent upon him to do just that.

We have a yiddish word for this kind of behavior:  It's called chutzpah!  We also have a phrase in the vernacular which explains the SG's actions:  It's called "Cover your A_s," or CYA.
This churl would have the gullible believe, apparently, that he acts against a bishop and a number of his own priests under authorization and encouragement from Rome.
Do I have this wrong?  Am I seeing the situation clearly, or have I we missed something here?  Please advise.

  • What Bishop Fellay has admitted is that all of the SSPX priests who were expelled from the Society, were expelled by conciliar Rome through Bishop Fellay.

It is an absurdity for anyone to continue to support the current leadership of the SSPX.

The faitful and their priests should leave en masse and build other churches to offer Mass like they did in the diocese of Campos when the modernist bishop Navarro came in.
We conclude logically that religion can give an efficacious and truly realistic answer to the great modern problems only if it is a religion that is profoundly lived, not simply a superficial and cheap religion made up of some vocal prayers and some ceremonies...

No.  Bishop Fellay is not being made a fool of.  Instead it is the SSPX faithful who are being played for fools BY Bishop Fellay.
