Maybe I'm overreacting entirely, but has not Bp. Fellay announced, in effect. that, though Society priests are not authorized presently to clean toilets in the Vatican, he, Bp. Fellay, nevertheless, has been tasked by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith to censure and discipline errant SSPX priests and bishops? that he has been appointed to "make canonical Church judgements on some of (his) priests"
So then, here we are: +Fellay recognizes the Society's position as "irregular." He accepts the fact that Society priests "can not (do) anything" legitimately in the Catholic Church. (Benedict XVI indicated this much in a letter to his bishops soon after the "excommunications" were lifted.) Society priests can not say Masses in the churches of Rome. But, by golly, +Fellay can deal with the perceived disobedience and folly of his own "irregular" clerics, and Rome makes it incuмbent upon him to do just that.
We have a yiddish word for this kind of behavior: It's called chutzpah! We also have a phrase in the vernacular which explains the SG's actions: It's called "Cover your A_s," or CYA.
This churl would have the gullible believe, apparently, that he acts against a bishop and a number of his own priests under authorization and encouragement from Rome.
Do I have this wrong? Am I seeing the situation clearly, or have I we missed something here? Please advise.
