  • I hope it will be in an adequate location since so many people I have talked to are already planning the trip.  It would be wonderful to have a massive turnout.  Viva Cristo Rey!

  • A few points to clarify my last post:

I am one of those (few?) who tries to be as objective as possible. When I criticized the location, it was purely personal subjective, giving my opinion as a Texan. Objectively, it is probably a great location because so many people live on both coasts, including the East Coast. Also, the fact that this consecration will be in the United States makes it historical and unique. When was the last time a traditional Bishop was consecrated with much public fanfare in the United States? (excluding clandestine and semi-clandestine consecrations by various Sedevacantist bishops)

    Let's do a quick review:

+ABL consecrated 4 bishops in 1988: Econe, Switzerland
    Consecration of Bishop Rangel: Brazil

and more recently, the Resistance bishops:

    Bishop Faure: Brazil
    Bishop Thomas Aquinas: Brazil

So all the public, recognize-and-resist Traditional Bishop consecrations have been in EUROPE or SOUTH AMERICA which makes travel quite a big ordeal, even for Americans with money for airfare.

Any time you add "passport", "customs", "different currency", "different culture", "different language", "longer plane ride", "greater expenses" to the mix, a bunch of people will give up.  It's simply a fact that these obstacles pose a barrier to entry, which is enough to cause a certain % of people to stay home.

But this one will be in the United States! I predict a big turnout.

  • Another point --

    Which is a bigger deal:

    A) The election of a 55 year old cardinal as Pope
    B) The election of a 83 year old cardinal as Pope

Obviously "A", right? After all, with "A" you're talking about the selection of the Pope for the next 2-3 decades. In the case of "B", it's basically a placeholder, "buying for time" until the College of Cardinals can figure out who they REALLY want to be Pope for the long term.

Because, all things being equal, a 55 year old has more of an earthly future than a 83 year old.

Now let's apply this truth to the upcoming consecration:

Sure, it's great that Bp. Faure and Bp. Thomas Aquinas were consecrated, and they both make great bishops. But they are not as young as Fr. Zendejas.

Fr. Zendejas is a long-term choice for Bishop. The other two are, like it or not, short-term choices. Nature itself dictates this.

  • It may be true that only 100 out of 2000 Trads would consider flying to a Consecration in their own country.

But only 1 out of 2000 Trads would consider flying to a Consecration OUTSIDE OF their own country.

So this is 100x the "big deal" that other recent (mostly Brazilian) Consecrations were.

  • At least we have a chapel for the Consecration.

This explains the purpose of the SSPX strategy, "Tie-up as many trad chapels as we can".

We can thank Our Lady Lady for preserving our independent priests and altars.

"Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

That chapel will not accommodate the crowd for this. I'm sure it will be an outdoor ceremony which is why H.E. Richard Williamson said we should pray for good weather.

The 25th anniversary of Bp Williamson was held in VA in an outdoor tent somewhere was it not? Does anyone know what location that occurred in relation to the chapel?

    Quote from: Bishop Williamson
Meanwhile these disciples need a handful of bishops to ensure a minimal continuation in Truth of episcopal teaching and of the sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Orders. In 1988 the Archbishop consecrated four of them for the same reason, two for Europe, and one each for North and South America. As of now the “Resistance” has two in Europe and one in South America. There remains a gap in North America. God willing, this coming May 11 Fr. Gerardo Zendejas will be consecrated bishop in the Traditional parish of Fr Ronald Ringrose in Vienna, Virginia , USA. Please pray for the blessing of Almighty God upon the ceremony – and for good weather!

May 11. Vienna VA. Let's all be there!

Let's definitely keep this in our petitions, and pray that God helps it to happen without too many complications!

I am assuming that the ceremony will take place in a tent outside of the rectory of Saint A's sort of like what happened for the 25th Anniversary of the Consecration of the 4 Bishops by Archbishop Lefebvre...  That is probably why Bishop Williamson said to pray for good weather...  :-)

I will say I was a bit surprised to find out about it through the Eleision Comments before hearing it announced at our chapel, since I go there for Mass...  Maybe they plan to announce it tomorrow...  ;-)

I am guessing that Father Ringrose is arranging most of it since he is the hosting pastor...

It angered me to read that. They're picking on whatever they can to bring an unbased criticism. For their information, May 11th is the Feast of Sts. Peter & Paul, apostles - no doubt chosen by the good Bishop for this reason. Similarly, the day of the consecrations of the four bishops, June 30, 1988 by Archbishop Lefebvre, was also a Thursday, Feast of St. Paul. Who are these people writing from "traditio"?

Correcting myself: May 11th, Sts. Philip & James. It is a feast day in the 1962 missal, a ferial day in the 1945 missal.
