Bishop Aquinas comments on consecrations

One of our Bishops, in Brazil, Bishop Thomas Aquinas had this to say recently about the consecrations:

The communiqué from Menzingen dated February 2, the Feast of the Purification of Our Lady, announces to us new episcopal consecrations for the upcoming July 1st.
After contact with Rome and after having received a letter which "does not respond in any way to our requests," the Rev. Fr. Pagliarani, Superior General of the Fraternity, supported by the unanimous opinion of his Council, considers that "the objective state of grave necessity" in which souls find themselves demands such a decision.

We cannot but rejoice at such news, and we follow with interest and prayers the unfolding of this courageous decision, which is well in conformity with the example left by Archbishop Lefebvre.
It remains to be observed what the Fraternity will do regarding other decisions already taken in the past which seem to us not to be quite in line with Archbishop Lefebvre—such as the juridical situation of marriages performed in the Fraternity by common agreement and under the direction of local bishops, as well as the expulsion of Bishop Williamson, who opposed a dangerous rapprochement with Rome in 2012.

Be that as it may, we rejoice in this decision and pray henceforth for those who will receive the episcopate on July 1st and who will, in all probability, have to endure new excommunications.
The affirmation of the "objective state of grave necessity" shows that the Fraternity renders the same judgment as Archbishop Lefebvre regarding the very root of so many decisions taken by Archbishop Lefebvre in the past, and by Tradition in general, in the present and in the future.
May Our Lord protect the Fraternity and the whole Church.

Dom Tomás de Aquino, O.S.B.

Thank you for sharing this. I always appreciate Bishop Thomas Aquinas's, OSB, statements regarding the events in the world. Most often containing the most sound clarity out there of one who knew Archbishop Lefebvre.

Regarding this specific topic: the great news of the announcement of the SSPX planning to consecrate new Bishops of July 1st, with or without Rome, as well as there being an awareness of past decisions the SSPX has made not in complete alignment with the wishes of Lefebvre. We must continue to pray for the Fraternity/Society.
