It was in Fr Hewko’s latest newsletter. Apparently they sold the Church to an individual who sold it to the muslims. There were pictures of the stained glass windows covered and the Church gutted. I’m not a follower of Fr Hewko but found this not surprising.

I also know in India that they use a diocesan church with the express permission of the local ordinary, at the very least in Chennai. There is a huge amount of ecuмenism in India.

St. Peregrine SSPX Chapel in Cleveland ... same story. They had a huge fundraising effort to build a new church, and it brought in very large sums of money. But no church was ever built. They're still, ten years later, operating out of a dumpy little converted house. It's likely that the money collected either directly from the parishioners or indirectly through their efforts was laundered for other purposes of the SSPX that did not directly benefit those who raised the money.

I think this will be different in that the SSPX will make this church their flagship church that they will use to prove to the Vatican what they are capable of and impress the various bishops, etc. So they may be more careful starting a project that they cannot complete. I suspect they will make a determination based on the outcome of the pledges on Aug. 15th. However, I think it is very risky as they still have to do their annual school fundraiser which they need to raise over $500,000 just to keep the school going.
