  • I'd like to see a dedicated thread that answers the conversation below which began in another thread:

    Quote from: Matthew
The SSPX is like a cab driver that isn't looking well -- his face is pale, his pulse is quick, and he's not going to get you all the way to your destination. At some point, his heart is going to go the rest of the way out and he'll slump over dead.

It would be smart to arrange another cab to get you to your destination.

But getting out of that doomed cab, and into the cab of a wild-eyed crazy cab driver with no respect for safety, human life, or the rules of the road, who looks (and acts) like he shouldn't be loose -- is that REALLY a smart move?

Yes, the first cab could get you killed, if he slumped over at the wrong time. There is certainly a risk to life and limb there. But the second cab -- with the crazy cab driver -- could just as easily get you killed when he pulls out in front of a semi truck to shave a few seconds off your trip!

Replace "death" with "damage to your Catholic Faith and your soul", cab driving with spiritual leadership as a priest, and you have the situation with the SSPX vs. Fr. Pfeiffer's group.

    Quote from: JmJ2cents
    And your solution is Mathew?

    Quote from: cebu
    Here is an idea/solution.

Could the visit of a true, real Catholic Bishop, Bp Faure, be a source of unity and a good prospect for the future?

All those who have managed to escape from the craziness of Boston, KY whether the compound itself or the centres they serve and have managed to keep their Faith intact, should be meet up at the different venues of the good bishop's visit and start to reorganise new centres where they can have Mass from normal priests like Fr Zendejas.

I'll provide my ideas as time permits, but I wanted to get the topic started.

  • I would hope a discussion could include worldwide resistance, it seems we are all at sea here, I think Bp Faure is a good place to start, as he at least has Authority, at the moment we are shepherdless and it shows, the neosspx continues to steer a steady course towards rome, while the resistance seems to have no idea which direction to take, I can well understand how people would prefer to stay in the perceived safety of neosspx when they see the shambles the resistance is descending into, leaving aside Fr's A B or C, or Z, Authority is what's needed now.

  • Perhaps there needs to be clarification of what is "danger to Faith".  That seems to be so loosely applied to situations where someone may simply have a beef with a priest or the parish as a whole rather than "If I continue on here we will all into impurity, heresy, schism, apostasy, etc..."

There are so many different opinions of what is considered "dangers to Faith".  Correct me if I'm wrong, but most here don't believe in red lighting the SSPX.  But to my family the SSPX is just the same as the FSSP accept that it hasn't  openly made a compromise; nonetheless, the spirit is the same.  When as parents we have to come home from Mass and correct what has been said from the pulpit, it's a danger.

Of course! I was trying to narrow the focus a bit, but most things would apply worldwide.

When we talk about "danger to the Faith", there are short-term dangers and also long-term dangers. So, I'd roughly put issues into 3 categories:
       1) short-term dangers
(nonfictional) example: your priest has a policy of no Extreme Unction if requested by someone who regularly attends Resistance Masses
one appropriate response: keep your family away, this is a sign of cult mentality and a complete disagreement with the purpose of the Resistance which is nothing more than keeping the Faith in a setting sufficiently distant from the dangerous Novus Ordo
       2) long-term dangers
example: the organization operating your chapel (SSPX) has no problem concelebrating Masses with diocesan priests and otherwise watering down the dangers of the Novus Ordo and the Roman hierarchy
one appropriate response: attend Mass for the sacraments, limit your involvement, actively work to establish a more solid option in your area
       3) not a danger
(fictional) example: Father announced the adding of new handicapped parking spaces and informed me that I'd have to park elsewhere ... I've been parking in that spot for 20 years! I'm outta here!
one appropriate response: Get over it!

That's how I see things and this thread is intended to discuss the part I bolded. What do you think? Would you define things differently?

If you're having to do this regularly, I'd place this as a short-term danger. Your children will not develop a proper respect for priests when they're told every couple of weeks about something else that Father got wrong. (Of course, do you homework and make sure it's really him that's wrong and not you.)

  • Step 1

Familiarize yourself with the ins and outs of the Resistance outside of Boston, KY. As someone pointed out here a week or so ago, even if you're convinced that there is more to the Resistance than 2 priests and a hotheaded 'Mexican' in Kentucky, those you speak with might not be aware of anything more than Fr. Pfeiffer's organization. The people who jump from the sinking ship on principle whether or not they know if the lifeboat will hold are those (priests and laity) who are already supporting the Resistance. The next group is going to want to know that the lifeboat is there, is holding steady, has a backup nearby, and will likely get them to safety. If you're in the US and want to help things grow you should be able to name at least 5 non-OLMC Resistance priests working in the US. You should know that there are four Resistance seminaries and about a half dozen religious communities.

I've been working on an English-centric Resistance directory. The only thorough directory I'm aware of is on a French website that is certainly useful, but not 100% accurate for local information and not the easiest to use for an English speaker. If anyone is aware of a good one in English, tell me now so I don't waste my time! : ) I should have the major listings -- bishops, seminaries, religious houses -- done soon.

  • Thank you MaterDominici, an updated English – centric Resistance Directory would be helpful. Can you elaborate on what information you require and content format so I can PM some of the info we have.

Regarding some suggestions and steps to organizing Mass Centers:

First: As CathInfo is by far the most commonly used Message Board for Traditional Catholic post , I would suggest that each existing Mass center ( or prospective Mass centers) could open a separate ‘Topic’ on CathInfo. For e.g.
    -   Format of Topic : < Name of City> Mass Center Announcements

Second: Whenever there is a Holy Mass or Prayer/ Pilgrimage / Event announcement, post the information on your respective Mass Center Topic. There are several members on CathInfo who do not sign up but visit and views posts. This approach would be an excellent broadcast event mechanism for your local center.

Third: You can always use more conventional approaches like passing around a sign-up sheet after a Holy Mass and word of mouth. Even if there is an existing mailing list, it is always beneficial to post new announcements at Cathinfo as it would reach out to new attendees who are interested in attending a local Mass Center

Fourth: Once you have critical mass, it would help to assign roles and responsibilities within the local Mass Center faithful. In my experience, most faithful and eager and willing to promote our Catholic doctrine and faith. Tasks such as contacting traditional minded /‘resistance’ priests, organizing the priests travel and accommodation, expenses, Holy Mass arrangements etc.

Fifth: By far the most important step, as individual pockets of traditional ‘Resistance’ Parishes, Keep praying for more vocations and support our Seminaries recognized by our Bishops as the present ‘Resistance’ Priests around the world are overwhelmed by the number of Mass centers they have to service and work tirelessly to reach out to their faithful. Please keep them always in your prayers.

I might have missed out some points so please add or provide suggestions as we come up with a streamlined approach that can leverage the good work already being done here at CathInfo.

As the webmaster of this french directory, I planned to make an english directory as soon as I have all informations...
I first want to have all informations, publish them in french on this website: www.ordo-resistance.blogspot.com
2nd step: publish them in a booklet in french
3rd: then in english (I have some english colaborators)
4th: then I hope to do the same in spanish... but that is a long term project...

But, for now, I beg all readers / coordinators that are not listed on the website linked below, to contact me, in order that I can realise these french/english directories...

Thanks to all who will collaborate...
