  • Sounds like the retreat is for priests.

  • Sunday, Dec. 16th is Gaudete Sunday in Advent, rose vestments (violet alternative)

Wednesday, December 19th is Ember Wednesday

Fri. Dec. 21st is Ember Friday, Feast of St. Thomas, Apostle, red vestments

Sat. Dec. 22nd is Ember Saturday

These are the days that Los Gatos CA has the "specialty men's retreat."
(St. Aloysius Gonzaga Retreat Center, Fr. Emily in charge)

Usually the SSPX priests' retreats are a 5-day, abbreviated form of the
30-day Ignatian retreat.  IMHO the effectiveness of these Ignatian
retreats, especially for priests, cannot be overestimated.  Any priest who
could manage to attend one preached by Bishop Williamson, especially now,
would never live to regret his decision.  This is the stuff of the front lines of
spiritual combat against the spirits of wickedness in high places.  The text
they use is Christian Warfare: it is not mislabeled.

On a natural level, one might presume that the bishop would take this
opportunity to grandstand, to complain about the unjust treatment he
has recently received, to do what comes natural in the present state of
affairs.  NOT.  An Ignatian retreat is not doing what comes natural.  It is
all about taking charge of your inclinations, and putting into practice the
most diligent means one can muster to discern the will of God in one's
life and to act in conformity therewith.

But as we saw this past summer in Switzerland, even an Ignatian retreat
is not immune from corruption!  It can even culminate with a pre-arranged
photo-opp on the tomb of the Founder:   since he's dead now, and he is
no longer able to defend his own memory.  He has handed down what he
had received, he has given us our meat in due season, and now it's our
turn, but.... The whole thing can be commandeered to diversion, so as to
produce an effect that is obviously in diametrical opposition to the
    manifest will of God, unfortunately.

Third Secret of Fatima time again!  The apostasy in the Church begins
with those who hold the highest offices, but not all.

I highly doubt Bishop Williamson's retreat will suffer from such a defect.

  • Inthisign is working on transcript now of Fr. Hewko's sermon.

Retreat is for "us priests" preached by Bishop Williamson. It will be in Kentucky and they are expecting 10-20 priests.  Afterwards Bishop Williamson will also be assisting Fr. Pfeiffer's organization of a homeschool workshop 12/28 through 1/1/13--about 4 or 5 days on a weekend (so it says in the sermon).  "All of you are welcome to come.  If you have families, you are welcome to come and if not, Father asked if you could donate to the cause as well because they have to rent a place...."  Fr. Hewko asks for prayers for the success of all this as well as for the pope to consecrate Russia.

Sermon proceeds to discuss the judgment at the end of the world and is really worth listening to, as always.

The entire transcript should be ready for publication soon.  Keep an eye on this thread and we'll let you know.

  • Yes, the second part of this sermon is about the significance of the number 666.  I'd say a "must read" for anyone who has not heard the sermon

Yes,  it was very thought provoking. I have only heard a few of Fr. Hewko's sermons so far, but they are very good. He talks about "the chip" in this one.

  • This is where you'll find the most pressing issues in the faith today.  It looks now
like the SSPX is fading fast into the sunset, a soon-to-be forgettable thing of
the past.  Sad, really.  But that's the direction the Menzingen-denizens have
chosen: compromise with the spirit of the world, and the unclean spirit of V.II.

It's refreshing to hear a priest (other than Fr. Gruner, that is!) remind us to pray
for the Pope and bishops of the world to make the Collegial Consecration of Russia.
"The Jєωs" don't like to hear that brought up, which is probably why +Fellay has
    dropped the ball on that.

Speaking of Fr. Gruner, I saw him at Ontario last weekend, and I must say, I am
privileged to have known this Most Faithful Servant of Our Lady.  Nothing has
kept him from his dedicated duty.  He has endured endless attacks of all
descriptions, but he has stayed the course.  His humility is overwhelming,
actually; he makes no pretensions.  He is not a showman.  It was funny to hear
him say that maybe someone else can do a better job at this than he can.  I
find that hard to believe.  But nonetheless, it's good to hear.  His audience is
largely Novus Ordo Catholics.  He is a true missionary.  The missionary field is
right here.  God bless Fr. Gruner.  We should pray for him, because his battle
never ends, and he's fighting it for US!
