PostYeah, well, see, that's the hook, innit? A slow death of tradition is much more palatable when it's to the tune of nice ladies with guitars.
"No, no, no. It's not realy like that, not at all!
If you look at the context of the guitars, you'll see that they weren't really guitars, they were actually just wooden boxes of a particular shape with strings. And even if some people might, in their misunderstnading, consider them to be guitars, they weren't really being played. The ladies' fingers just happened to get caught on the strings when she moved her hand, and as it happened this took place repeatedly in a short space of time. And was it really during Mass? True, Mass had begun beforehand, and didn't end till after this incident took place, and Mass was of a normal length, but do you know for certain that this actually happened during Mass?"
"AAAAARRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" [quote/unquote]
"Look, let me clarify our position. We have always been against guitars being played during Mass, and we still are. Our position is the position of Archbishop Lefebvre, we make his position our own, and this incident doesn't alter that stance one bit. You Resistance people are such calumniators, you're just desperate to make it look like we've changed when anyone can see that we haven't changed one bit. You're just intent on sowing distrust towards legitimate superiors, which is sinful, because you have no evidence whatsoever, just a load of made up stuff, and some perfectly innocent things which you always deliberately view in the worst possible light, through dark glasses.
...Poor people who are so misled by their mistrust."
I'm really upset, Ed. But not for reasons that you might expect.
I'm really upset that I did not read this thread and your post, above,
when it first came out today because I MOST ASSUREDLY could have
used it to great effect today at a small gathering. This is great news.
I really appreciate your rendition of the thinking we're up against. If
I'm not mistaken, you have a gift for playwriting and you could crank
out copy that would make a tremendously entertaining road show for
the Resistance. Is that too far fetched? Maybe so. But the makings
of great material is everywhere we look. It was in the English blood
to do such things in the past thus many of our popular children's
rhymes and Christmas carols from the not-too-distant past. Perhaps
the time has arisen again. I just know that the latent talent is out
there somewhere. BTW you had me nearly rolling on the floor with
this. My cat thought there was something wrong with me. But after
I explained it to her she was fine again. Cats are very adaptable.
A lot like Accordistas, really, for they don't mind changing moral
principles, so long as they get their food on time, like the
bread and
circus of the ExSPX. When desirous of being in Newrome, do as the
Newromans have done.
Thanks again. I'm taking notes.. and will definitely use this at the next
opportunity.
