  • I'm not "promoting it" just saying that this seems to be an issue of discipline and not dogma.

I'm not sure why, if Eastern Rite priests are allowed to do this, what PRINCIPLE would rule out the Holy See allowing the Anglican Ordinariate to have a similar exception.  And I don't see how Fr. Treco isn't trad because of this.

In other words, you don't know much about why Latin Rite priests are celibate.

    But back to Fr. Treco:

He isn't trad because he says/said a Novus Ordo and a Novus Ordo variant (Anglican usage), and because he has doubtful holy orders, and because he is married.

No traditionalist would consider such a priest "traditional."
Rom 5: 20 - "But where sin increased, grace abounded all the more."

  • Matt-- thirty years later-- still isn't sure if ABL should have consecrated bishops in 1988.  He'll allow himself to get a little excited at the SSPX's ability to "disrupt" things, but he can't bring himself to actually commit to a favorable view of what the Archbishop did, only a somewhat positive perspective of what's come of it.  God brings good out of evil, you might say.
    .
He's an indulter for life.  And that's fine.  "Fine" in the sense that we do what our consciences insist of us.  Hopefully they're well formed!  But he'd die before stepping one foot outside the diocese.  Keep that in mind and everything else will fall into place.
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

I don’t know enough about the Anglican ordinariate to comment on it.  All that said, I even have sede friends who don’t accept that he’s a priest but nevertheless appreciated his homily.  Why are you so all or nothing?
