Matt-- thirty years later-- still isn't sure if ABL should have consecrated bishops in 1988. He'll allow himself to get a little excited at the SSPX's ability to "disrupt" things, but he can't bring himself to actually commit to a favorable view of what the Archbishop did, only a somewhat positive perspective of what's come of it. God brings good out of evil, you might say.

He's an indulter for life. And that's fine. "Fine" in the sense that we do what our consciences insist of us. Hopefully they're well formed! But he'd die before stepping one foot outside the diocese. Keep that in mind and everything else will fall into place.
