  • A MORAL PROBLEM IS POSED FOR ALL OF US.
    * MUST WE RUN THE RISK OF CONTACTS WITH THIS MODERNIST ROME IN THE HOPE OF CONVERTING SOME SOULS,AND WITH THE HOPE OF FORTIFYING OURSELVES BEFOREHAND WITH THE GRACE OF GOD AND THE VIRTUE OF PRUDENCE,AND THUS REMAIN LEGALLY UNITED TO ROME ACCORDING TO THE LETTER,AS WE ARE IN REALITY AND IN SPIRIT ? * OR MUST WE , BEFORE ALL ELSE, PRESERVE THE TRADITIONAL FAMILY TO MAINTAIN ITS COHESION AND VIGOR IN THE FAITH AND IN GRACE, CONSIDERING THAT THE PURELY FORMAL TIE WITH MODERNIST ROME CANNOT BE AS IMPORTANT AS THE PROTECTION OF THIS FAMILY, REPRESENTING THOSE WHO REMAIN FAITHFUL TO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH ? * WHAT DO GOD AND THE HOLY TRINITY ,AND OUR LADY OF FATIMA ASK OF US IN RESPONSE TO THIS QUESTION ? IT IS CLEAR FOUR BISHOPS WILL FORTIFY US BETTER THAN JUST ONE. THE DECISION MUST BE TAKEN WITHIN 48 HOURS. REFLECT ,PRAY PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR OPINION, EVEN IN WRITING IF YOU WISH, AND IT WILL BE MY DUTY , WITH THE HELP OF THE HOLY GHOST, AND OUR LADY THE QUEEN TO MAKE A DECISION. MSGR. DE CASTRO MAYER HAS PROMISED TO COME JUNE 30TH FOT THE EPISCOPAL CONSECRATIONS, WITH THREE PRIESTS FROM HIS DIOCESE.

WHAT A FAR CRY FROM BISHOP FELLAY'S SETTLING FOR ONE BISHOP ON HIS RACE BACK TO ROME, PATHETIC, TRAITOR

Indeed, this is very outdated information. Were he alive today he would see that the idea of converting a few in Rome is dead.  It is a mystery as to why he did not see after the first ten or fifteen years.

I suppose the Archbishop lacked your profound insight into the situation, JPaul. I assume that you wrote to him when he was alive and explained your profound and enlightened insight? If not, then why not (write to him?).
"It is licit to resist a Sovereign Pontiff who is trying to destroy the Church. I say it is licit to resist him in not following his orders and in preventing the execution of his will. It is not licit to Judge him, to punish him, or to depose him, for these are acts proper to a superior."

Well, as you know, many did and were maligned for it. So much money though was riding on maintaining contact with Rome and we had at local level to adjust to his frequent changes of mood.

Had the money and influence become more softline over time (as it has), I wonder whether the archbishop would have been so influenced. I am pretty sure if Bp. Williamson had become SG (he had too many enemies and was Anglo-Saxon), he would be pursuing a softer line than the one he pursues now. He boasts about having a position between two extremes!

I remember now, how from time to time how a theologian of teacher and such would separate from the Society and would then be treated by them as a traitor and an enemy.  But, you are correct that they simply saw the light as to the reality and to the future, that the society's position had become untenable and contradictory. I did not realize at the time as I was so indoctrinated into society propaganda that I always took the society's side without any critical thinking.
And yes a position between extremes which in fact would be a compromised posture dressed in a hard liner's cloak.  Exactly the model of the Archbishop.
