A short interview with Fr. Pierre-Celestin Ndong. He is a Resistance priest with an apostolate in Africa, who has recently visited several Resistance chapels.
Father, would you introduce yourself to our readers ?
Father Ndong: I was born in Libreville, Gabon in 1974. I was ordained a SSPX priest in Ecône, Switzerland, in 2001. In ten years as a SSPX priest, I was assigned in three countries : France, Belgium and USA. In 2011, I left the SSPX and I went back to my country.
Why have you decided to leave the SSPX ?
Father Ndong: In my opinion, there is a dictatorial mindset among the superiors of the SSPX. Basically, the superior is always right because being the superior, he has the grace of state. I didn’t accept that dictatorial mindset and that is one of the reasons of me leaving the SSPX. In 2005, when Cardinal Ratzinger got elected as pope, I started to question the declarations of Bp. Fellay. The Motu Proprio of 2007 and the decree of 2009 increased my worries. And after a conference given by Fr Pfluger in a priests’ meeting in the USA, I was convinced that the leaders of the SSPX wanted an agreement with the Modernists in Rome. I could not accept such an agreement. That is the second reason why I left the SSPX.
How do you see the future of the Resistance movement ?
Father Ndong: I think time is working for what some called the Resistance movement as long as there are patience and unity in that movement. Patience because God’s work is not in a hurry and unity because truth, faith and charity always unite; they never divide.
What is your apostolate in Africa ?
Father Ndong: My apostolate in Africa is in two countries : Gabon and Uganda. In Gabon, where I live, I have two small chapels and 70 people. I try to visit Uganda twice a year. I visit four groups in four cities : Kampala, Masaka, Kabale and Mparo. We have around 200 people in Uganda. I teach them how to attend the true Mass and I give them catechism classes.
What do you need for your apostolate in Africa ?
Father Ndong: Our people in Africa don’t have the finances we need in order to develop our apostolate. That is our principal need.
How can we help your apostolate in Africa ?
Father Ndong: First of all, you can help with prayer and sacrifice. The work of God requires prayer and sacrifice. Secondly, you can help by sending donations even small ones. If you want to help, please contact me via my email: pndongondo@gmail.com
