Title: Any word from SSPX priests re: the Pope's guidelines for SSPX marriages?
Post by: wallflower on April 10, 2017, 02:50:42 PM
Have any SPPX priests had anything to say about this? Given sermons? Instructed the faithful on the ins and outs of the new offer? Shown any negative reaction at all? Or are they all just going with it and neglecting to highlight it?

Good strategy on Rome's part, maybe the priests are too overrun with Easter prep to have time to address it?

It also says Fr. Pfluger will be there on the 23rd.
Wonder if Fr. Pfluger will hold a Q & A session on the SSPX priest child abuse cover-up docuмentary film.

[....] maybe the priests are too overrun with Easter prep to have time to address it?

"Easter prep"!?   Perhaps I should recognize that we Baby-Boom Cradle Catholics are a small minority, dying off in varying degrees of divine grace, but I sure as [expletives deleted] didn't expect to need to point out to an allegedly traditional Catholic that the time-period under discussion is called "Holy Week"!

The letter from the (Vatican) C.D.F. was publicized less than a week ago!

Instead of pridefully fluffing your feathers by starting a cluelessly redundant "topic",  how's 'bout following 1--or inquiring in 1--of any of a few extant CathInfo topics on this issue, e.g:

"Easter prep"!?
(Erroneously nearly duplicate reply deleted by author AlligatorDicax on his own initiative)

I apologize for ruffling your feathers Alligator. I take that as a no, you haven't heard anything?

This is bothering me this morning for some ridiculous reason. I did not think it was worth the energy of defending myself last night but in case you are still deeply disturbed, Alligator: the date on the letter is March 27th. I thought it had been out a couple of weeks.

On top of that, as a wife and mother, my active duties have switched into Easter preparation gear. There is no Easter Bunny. Real, live wives and mothers are usually the ones who work behind the scenes to make Easter a special day in all the practical ways. And those preparations start before the actual day. So I have handled gifts, Easter eggs and special groceries in the past week. The term "Easter prep" is a little colloquial sounding but it simply reflects MY state in life at the moment. It came out when speaking of the priests, which may have sounded terribly irreverent to you. It wasn't meant to be. In between thoughts of Holy Week, my mind is on Easter prep, and that's exactly where God wants it to be at this point in my life. If you have reached a stage where you are able to focus 100% on Holy Week liturgies and nothing else, then please pray for those of us who are still in a very active state of life and do not have the luxury.

If it makes you feel any better, wallflower, I remember a very good Traditional priest one time making the point that Lent is a preparation for Easter.

I'll defend you, Wallflower.

Alligator - you're just being rude.

Wallflower's thread is not to discuss the issuing of the decree itself, which can be done on other threads.

She is asking for a poll of members to give the reaction on the ground in their SSPX parishes.

This is actually a really important question.

I posted about the reaction in Phoenix, but so far no one else has posted.

I want to hear what the reponse is in the parishes. It's a big deal.

Ignore the Alligator (aptly named), he's obviously having a man-o-pause moment and being hyper critical. The rest of the sane world truly understood you.

From another thread:

Quote from: saintbosco13
an SSPX priest here in the US just announced to the children in his school that his plan is to IGNORE the decree

Thank you : ) I do appreciate the support although I do regret the inability to let it go and hope to do better next time.

Thank you mw and mater for the information. It's heartening to hear one priest is resisting (haha, no pun intended). I really wonder what the internal discipline will be on the matter, if headquarters will try to force the issue or let each priest decide for himself.

I hope there will be more reports. Not unlike others I don't have a lot of time to follow several threads in detail so I was hoping at least the priests' reactions could be reported in one thread. I still have hope that a few of them will wake up and speak up.
