  • I would suggest everyone take literally the term anti-pope. It can mean nothing else other than AGAINST the Pope. No ambivelance can be interpreted.  :wine-drinking:

  • What do you mean "everyone take literally the term anti-pope"?

What do you mean by "no ambivelance can be interpreted"?

  • If ambivelence were to be intended, the term would be ambi-pope.

  • Sorry roscoe, but to be "against the pope" it has to be "contra-pope".

    Ciao.

    Toy Pope
    imitation Pope
    No Pope
    Protestant Pope
    New Age Pope
    Pope to fit all
Or "Is the Pope Catholic, I don't know, but he's the Pope so who cares.... Pope"

Having never heard of a contra-pope, I prefer the anti-pope designation that has always been used by the Church.

You left one out Myrna-- the big one. Ulike the Popes of the GWS, the v2 usurpers are anti-popes

  • This seems to have run its course. Both sides agree that the V2 usurpers were not real popes in any sense.

One party thinks that Siri was a secret Pope and there is probably another pope in hiding today.

The other side thinks that during the this period of usurpation there have not been any real popes.

Does anyone think the problem will be solved here or any agreement will be reached here?

Look what is the difference between having a Pope who is hidden away somewhere and doesnt give directions that we can follow at all and having no Pope?

I tried to track down (anti-?) Pope Linus II who at least some people have heard of and had no luck at all.

Both circuмstances would do Catholics no good at all.

So why would a pope hide away and let his papacy give the faithful no help just like they would get from having no pope at all?

  • In terms of teaching the true faith, there is no pope today. I believe Bp. Castro de Mayer openly said this back in 1988. Which boils down to the Society relying heavily on a residual authority in the person of a claimant to the Roman succession wherever it may lead. The convolutions will magnify as long as this awkward position persists.

  • Yes, the putative pope is this person:

"More and more it becomes apparent that this man is perhaps the most industrious ecclesial termite of the post-conciliar epoch, tearing down even as he makes busy with the appearance of building up. The longer Ratzinger “guards” Catholic doctrine, the more porous the barriers that protect it become." - Christopher Ferrara 2005

Yes, but doesn't that game always end fairly soon by the seeker finding the Hidden One or the Hidden One revealing himself?

The Hidden Pope game just goes on and on. The Hidden Pope never comes out - comes out --- from wherever he is.
And the seekers never find him.  :scratchchin:
