Some of the posts here lead me to believe St. Mary's is a lost cause,

It may be for now but that's because most believe we can be reconciled without compromise. I think if/when a deal were to be signed and if/when it does contain compromise, many will wake up if the 3 bishops and more priests are vocal.

At this point it's all considered rumor-mongering -- and to a certain degree it is -- nothing has been signed or officially changed as of today or even tomorrow. If it becomes reality I do believe more will become active.

At that time, however, it may be too late to turn the tide. The battle must be won now.

  • “Nothing has changed officially…”

This is simply not correct as a simple matter of objective fact…

An article by Fr Iscara was posted on the “official” website trying to persuade Traditional Catholics to remain silent in the face of modern errors…you say people will wake up “if the three bishops become vocal”!!!! How could you not have read Bishop DeMallerais’ sermon where he explicitly, in detail, explains how this article is wrong, wrong, wrong. There are no signs that Rome is presently converting and we must not cease condemning the errors of Vatican II. Bishop DeMallerais HAS seen the doctrinal preamble, the docuмent Bishop Fellay is so eager to sign,  and he says unmistakably in his sermon that its ambiguity is unacceptable for a Catholic, that a Catholic must profess the Faith clearly in the face of error…

Bishop Fellay has already changed his position to say Vatican II doesn’t contain error, it’s the “interpretation” that can be in error, it can be interpreted as traditional. Bishops DeMallerais and Williamson have re-iterated that the docuмents of Vatican II themselves contain errors that must be reversed…

An article is put out “interpreting” the writings/sayings of Archbishop Lefebvre according to the principles of historical modernism…

Numerous articles and statements by Bishop Fellay and his inner circle have appeared assuring us that somehow, secretly Benedict XVI wants Tradition restored…though Benedict has changed nothing of his teaching or practice in favor of ecuмenism, religious liberty and the new theology condemned by Pope Pius XII…

Articles expressing Church teachings critical of Judaism have been expunged from SSPX websites…

This is like living through a nightmare…exactly word for word a replay of Vatican II…

”Oh the changes are not really good, but once things settle down it’ll be ok…lets just wait and see… if they do the Mass in ALL English that would be unacceptable…”

Next year: ”All right the Mass is all in English but that’s not too bad, now if they tried giving Communion in the hand or having laypeople giving Communion I’d protest…”

Next year “Well the extraordinary ministers aren’t too bad…but if they allow altar girls, then I’d really have something to say…”

Years later “So we have an open “gαy” pastor who leads “rock masses” in our church-in-the-round, but if things get really bad, then…”

  • I still want to know what the hell NE Kansans are supposed to do after this agreement?  Drive to Omaha every Sunday?

Precisely why we all need to be talking with our SSPX priests.

Let them know that any priest holding firm for tradition will be taken care of materially.

Offer to let them into your homes indefinately.

This may encourage some who are on the fence.

I don't understand, why would you drive to Omaha?

  • Before we even think about driving to Omaha lets start immediately praying rosary novenas for Fr Kenneth Novak. (Yes, and the other priests in Saint Marys also)

And make sure Fr knows there are people willing to support him financially if he stands firm for tradition.

Has Fr. Novak come out and made any public declaration condemning the sellout?

  • No, no public statements from Fr Novak, but everything he has said and done in these past many years indicates he is zealous for the integrity of the One, True Faith.

Thus the need for many fervent prayers that he (and all Socity priests) come through this trial on God's side.

  • I'm not saying I would want to drive to Omaha. The point is that there are a couple independent/sede chapels up there.  Where would the faithful go to Mass if there were no priests loyal priests to say Mass for them? Or, as I asked originally, is there a location that could acquired locally? And if acquired, what are the chances of it being staffed.

I see. I thought you meant going to FSSP which would be rather pointless since the SSPX would be in the same boat. Might as well keep going to SSPX.

  • I can attend the FSSP without driving to Omaha.  That is not what I was suggesting. :smirk:

If you were to attend the FSSP, it'd probably be the one I attend just down the road in Kansas City, I pressume? :) If you are indeed from NE Kansas.
Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation: and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.

Lol, true, I forgot about Maple Hill or Kansas City. See, that's why I asked, I didn't know what you were getting at. But I wouldn't go to a sede chapel so my mind wasn't going in that direction. Otherwise I might have caught on.

Any suggestions on what a fellow is to do in this situation?
