  • I was basically accused  of calumny against Fr Paul Morgan SSPX. I reject it though is fair comment that I do not attend the SSPX. I will be making no further comment about Fr M or the SSPX. Like sigismund, I have no "dog in the fight".  I have never disputed Fr M is in a difficult position but I resent being accused of calumny.

  • What I mean about not attending SSPX is I am not aware of what is going on. When I can, I will avail of the sacraments via a resistance chapel chapel. As I said I never disputed Fr M is in a difficult position. I even said on another thread about cutting him slack. I even defended him a few years ago when others in Ireland said they didn't like him.

It's a case of being damned when you do and damned when you don't. The SSPX politics is not my fight. I have taken the accusation of calumny badly.

  • I wasn't clear about "fair comment". What I mean is, I don't attend the SSPX so not up to date on what Fr M does or doesn't do. I haven't been "got at" or intimidated by his friends but I won't be making further comment about Fr M. He is his own man.

  • All resistors have at one time or another been accused of calumny.

My main reason for the thread is just to clarify lest people wonder why no further comment regarding Fr M. The problem with these internet fora is the danger of a misunderstanding.

I felt obliged to respond to 'Raphaela' on another thread but matters should not be taken seriously.

Regarding this thread naturally I reject the allegation of calumny against Fr M.

The politics of the SSPX is their business and a matter for those, who remain attending their chapels.

My intent was not to state anything calumnious against Fr Paul Morgan.

regarding sspx in Ireland, for instance, Fr Morgan, has been a huge disappointment, and not the only one

Whilst I do wish to make no further comment regarding Fr Morgan, I feel obliged to respond to this comment from 'stgobnait'.

When Fr Morgan became District Superior I welcomed it and was delighted. I had met Father prior to this and heard him give an excellent talk.

My criticism of him is based on how brow beaten he has become and a changed man since the General Chapter.

Regarding Ireland it has always been a bit of a Craggy Island for the SSPX. That is a wider debate and issue.

I have been more critical of Fr M in recent times. I accept that but reject that I spread calumny. I wrote based on what was known to me.

  • I realise I didn't share calumny but the accusation has bothered me greatly. Keep me in prayer.
