The result of any investigation will conclude what many already know to be the truth, and that is, that Benedict XVI is the true pope.

No, the truth is that neither one is a legitimate pope, and that we haven't had a legitimate Pope since Gregory XVII (who was cast aside and exiled).

+Vigano’s point about proving +Benedict is still pope, is a legal point, as he admits any pro-V2 pope is flawed, spiritually.  +Vigano is arguing that if +Benedict is still pope, then all the communist bishops/cardinals that Francis appointed would be null.  This would certainty tilt the scales in new-rome back to “moderate conservatism” which is better than nothing.

Who exactly would perform this investigation??! And who would approve the results?

It's pretty weird to see Vigano jumping on the Bennyvacantist bandwagon, by the way. But I guess he missed the boat a long time ago when he decided to continue recognizing a modernist cabal as the hierarchy of the Church.

He said very clearly he’s talking about the legal aspect, not the spiritual aspect, of the papacy.  Don’t just label his view as “bennyvacantist” - that’s lazy.

The legal aspect is the only one you need to show that Benedict XVI is the true pope.
