Excellent commentary. Who is Father Rua? Where is he located?

SDB is used for Society of Don Bosco, also known as "The Salesians," after
Saint Francis de Sales, whom St. John Bosco promoted for recognition to the
point where St. Francis was honored by the title Doctor of the Church.
As far as I know there are no strictly "traditionalist" Salesians around, however,
the studies and methods and principles and tradition of the Salesians goes
way back, and the order seems to have an abiding grace of assistance from
its founder, Don Bosco, who was a most remarkable and energetic saint in
the history of the Church.
I have heard of some scattered Salesians who have reverted to a study of
the CTLM, but this is not something that the superiors encourage. To my
knowledge, however, it is not punished or reprimanded the way it has been
in other orders and in most dioceses worldwide post Vat.II.
The Salesians followed the latest trends after the Council, and were the first
kids on the block to turn the altar around and try out the concelebration stuff.
But it seemed they were doing that out of a zeal for keeping 'up-to-date'
rather than for a disordered desire for novelty for the sake of novelty.
Don Bosco's congregation was centered on providing boys, starting with the
Italian poor, with skills to become productive in an emerging age of technology,
at the end of the 19th century, which was the beginning of the Industrial
Revolution. So it was a practical 'keeping up with the times' more than a
theological or philosophical or religious progressivism.
The Salesians, however, did suffer the influx of Modernism in their seminary
studies, when some of the professors introduced novelties of all kinds. So
it's a mixed bag -- a lot depends on who your instructors were. There were
good ones and bad ones.
For example, Tarcisio Cardinal Bertone is a Salesian, unfortunately. He has
single-handedly given the order a bad name. But they're not all like that!!
From the OPs it appears at first glance that Fr. Rua's instructors must have
been good ones. We'll have to see about that...................
