This apparently has already happened (don't know when), but:
Fr. Mark Stafki is the current prior in Phoenix and Fr. Otto Keiser is one of 4 assistants there. I had thought that Fr. Stafki was the prior in Los Angeles. I don't know when the change was made of either priest. I saw this on the OLS Phoenix website today.
Fr. Stafki used to be an assistant in Phoenix and was the retreat master. I went on an Ignatian Retreat preached by him and it was excellent. He can really put the fear of God into you. Too bad he won't be involved with the retreats as prior.
Fr. Stafki was swept away from Arcadia quite suddenly a month or more ago, the parish was given the news at mass and then he was gone. I thought it was curious, how quickly he left.
In the meantime, the parish has been hanging by a thread while waiting for replacement...
Hello B,
Well, the usual pattern is for new priests to appear in an atmosphere of excitement, replacing those that suddenly disappear in the middle of the night. Those that leave the Society are not supposed to have existed at all!
Is Mel Gibson's chapel still functioning?
I wondered where Fr. Morgan was going to turn up. Losing oneself in the great expanse of Canada is a far cry from surviving the turbulence of trad positions in chaotic London.
