  • Dear Matthew,
    Ave Maria, gratia plena !
Thanks for given me the opportunity to write you privately . I have
been directed by my friend in the person of M.B. to get
registered in the Cathinfo.com and I think, that has been done
successfully though I have not been able to drop a comment in the group.
I would like to introduce ourselves and  mission to you. We were two
priests who discovered tradition in 2016. My humble self - Fr Michael
Chigbata and Fr Joseph Onuorah. Both of us were former priests of
Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha in Nigeria. Our journey to Traditional
Catholicism commenced in 2018 , when we wrote the Archbishop
officially that we are leaving the Conciliar Church to embrace fully
    traditional Catholicism.
We contacted Bishops : Williamson and  Zendejas and declared our
willingness and intention to join the Catholic Fidelity  (RESISTANCE)
group. We received an outstanding encouragement from them. They
assigned some traditional priests to organise lectures for us which we
faithfully received for over two years. We received conditional
ordination from Bishop Thomas Aquinas at the Monastery of the Holy
Cross, Brazil on 30th of May 2021.
Father Joseph Onuorah and myself are working together. The Resistance
Bishops are fully aware of our presence and mission in Nigeria.
Having read much about the writings of Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre of
the blessed memory and having discovered that all the Resistance
Bishops are standing on his living legacy and position, we are
therefore solidly with them in the same mission of operation survival
of Catholic Tradition and priesthood which they are continuing. Our
mission and position, therefore, is not in any way different from
theirs as well as all the  traditional priests (Resistance) all over
    the world.
We are currently covering five mass centers at different locations
mainly in the South East and South West geopolitical zones in Nigeria.
Our young mission here in Nigeria is a mission really in need because
of certain circuмstances and challenges we are passing through since
we left the Novus Ordo and embraced Traditional Latin mass.
It has been a great battle. The Novus Ordo Bishops , Priests and many
of the lay faithful are really after us. Our names have been published
and circulated in social media a number of times as those who have
gone crazy. We have been receiving all sorts of intimidation and
persecution from them, aimed at compelling us to abandon tradition but
we remained resolute and firm in our decision.
Despite all these attacks, God is manifesting his grace gradually by
drawing poor souls to discover tradition. Our apostolate is growing
but we need financial/moral support from kind hearted people for the
sustenance of the mission. The essence of this mail is to seek for your
advice and direction on how to get some benefactors who might be
willing to assist us .Please let me know how you can be of help to us
    in this regard.
We are hoping to hear from you  at your most convenient time.
Thanking you in anticipation for your reply with assurance of my prayers.
Very Truly yours in Jesus and Mary,
    Fr Michael Chigbata
    ( Prior).

  • Couldn't they get in touch with one of those Nigerian princes who have millions of dollars they don't know what to do with?  :laugh1:

  • Thank you, Matthew. These priests will have much to suffer. We must at least pray fervently for their survival and a resurrection for Catholic traditional faith.

What’s with the flippancy and the downthumbing?

  • Onitsha Catholic Diocese Sanctions Two Priests for Disobedience

The Catholic Diocese of Onitsha has sanctioned two priests from the diocese for acts of insubordination.
The priests; Reverend Fathers Michael Chigbata and Joseph Onuorah were sanctioned for celebrating masses in parts of the diocese, using what they called Traditional Catholic Mass.

A press release by the Chancellor of the diocese, Very Rev Fr Prudentius Emeka Aroh which was made available to THISDAY in Awka described them as disobedient priests and called for prayers for them to change their ways.

The release said the priests abandoned their legitimately assigned pastoral duties, claiming that they had now joined a group known as Society of St Pius X(SSPX).

Aroh said, “They currently operate their illegal activities from Anaku in Ayamelum LGA and they also move about deceiving innocent Catholics that they now celebrate the Traditional Catholic Mass.

“They have neither the approval nor the permission of the Archbishop of Onitsha to celebrate any such mass or other sacrament within the Diocese of Onitsha. These two priests are living in disobedience and their faculties as priests of Onitsha Archdiocese have been withdrawn.”

The diocese advised the general public, especially all Catholics and other men and women of goodwill not to have anything to do with these two disobedient priests or others like them, saying that those who associate with them do so at their own risk, because they were working against the unity of the church.

“We request that all pray for these two disobedient priests so that the light of the holy spirit will shine on them and bring them back to the church”, the chancellor wrote.

  • So humor is forbidden to Traditional Catholics?  I’m starting to believe that for some people Traditional Catholicism has become a mental illness.

  • I see you downthumbed various post(s) in this thread. Why?

If you have some problem with Black priests, the Resistance, etc. please comment in the thread. Be a man about it. Don't just do a drive-by.

But you went even further with this comment. You are making some kind of insinuation.

Hey this isn't Facebook or Twitter. You can't just post a "teaser" post like that, especially about a priest of God. If there is some LEGITIMATE problem with these priests, it has to be public. You can't just destroy someone's spotless reputation through insinuation and rumor. Especially a consecrated priest of God! Did you note they were conditionally ordained by a valid (Trad) bishop? That means they are consecrated priests of God with absolute certainty.

Yes, in the world of Tradition, where we HAVE no Church tribunals, oversight by the Church, etc. the Faithful must do their due diligence and share information about their priests. We're in a period of crisis, basically surviving in lifeboats. If a lifeboat has a fatal leak in it, you are duty-bound in charity (for the public good) to make that fatal flaw known!

But this works both ways: all a priest has is his reputation among the people. Unlike before Vatican II, there is little "force" from above imposing a given priest on anyone. Everyone can just leave and go to another lifeboat/chapel. So if someone wantonly destroys a good priest's reputation, making it harder for him to A) make a living/survive and B) carry out his apostolate, then may God have mercy on him.

Of course humour is not forbidden. Ladi, you know by now that I am all for humour when it is appropriate. Mental illness is not at the root of my comment.
I see that Matthew has stepped into the breach, and that Epiphany has graciously apologised. All’s well that ends well.

Does anyone have a clue about how to send money by Swift code?  I've looked at a few services at one point, and none of them seemed to work right?

  • Hey Lad,
Yes, try one of the online foreign exchange sites.
I can vouch for xe.com and have used it many times to transfer funds to several continents, including to Fr Chigbata.
Their rates are better than the banks, and while xe may not have the best rates of all the sites, they transfer to more of the less common countries.
Register with xe, it is very easy and you will have no problem with all the necessary details provided by Father.
I contacted Father last year and he asked for the funds to be transferred in USD.
    Hope that helps.
By the way, these Nigerian priests were trained for two years by Fr Ortiz.
    God bless,
    PV

You need to go to an international bank like “Bank of America” or “HSBC”. They can help you with the process.
For what doth it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his own soul? Or what exchange shall a man give for his soul?
