You must have been on vacation the last month or so, since the SSPX article denying the consecrations aired here.

I guess I missed that part.  There's so much rabbit hash and BS to wade through, in all of this mess, that sometimes it just all blurs together for me.

Of particular importance for this is the last section of the video that begins at 47:54.

Yea this is the line coming out of the SSPX.

We will just repeat the mistakes of history like idiots who never knew about it. The SSPX is such a cult.

The completely ignore that the Archbishop said afterwards that he should have done it earlier. And most importantly, that there should be no engagement with Rome until it has fully converted.

Quotes are all there.

It is because of the FAITH that true tradition consecrates, not because of the practical survival of one group.

+Fellay is asked whether the Society will consecrate more bishops, and he responds that they will follow the same procedure as in 1988 (ie., Lefebvre went to Rome to ask them).

The problem there is that once Lefebvre realized Rome was negotiating in bad faith, his action was taken independent of Rome.

By ignoring that, +Fellay is effectively saying that the Society will seek permission from a Rome hostile to Tradition, such that, were bishops granted, they would certainly be of a stripe inimical to Tradition (whether they  come ad extra (Huonder) or ad infra (du Chalard, Celier, Simoulin, etc).

That type of inexplicable posture is what has me wondering if the SSPX hasn’t already received a “recognition of tolerance ad tempus” (ie., a probationary approval, contingent upon good behavior), which they fear to lose.

The other problem is, the statement:  "Lefebvre went to Rome to ask them" is not really accurate.  He announced on June 29, 1987 that he was going to consecrate bishops, and then NewRome said, "Wait!  Stop!  Let us have discussions & make a deal!"  Basically, from July 1987 onward, +Lefebvre was determined to consecrate bishops, with or without Rome's approval.
