  • Does anyone know where "The Legend", Fr. Kenneth Novak, stands on the current SSPX / Bishop Fellay /Rome situation?  Has he said any word about the"Fathers Five" or about the expulsion of Bishop Williamson?  Since Fr. Rostand relieved him of his editorship of Angelus Press, stripped him of his pastorship, and burried him away, against hie expressed desire,  at St. Mary's (for his own health of course (sarcasm)) little has been heard from him.

  • Father Novak is doing well. He is staying with the SSPX until they ask him to deny the creed, or so he says. He is a good priest but he is caught in the same web as so many other priests--making excuses why they wont stand up and fight.

We wrote to him and encourage you to do the same. Ask him to stand up like the man he is always telling others they have to be!!

  • That is the trouble with modern priests; they talk the talk but won't walk the walk. Knowing this I disregard sermons from most priests; they are just going through the motions like those in other jobs.

It's true....they talk the talk and then fold when push comes to shove.  It is not inspiring...gives people reason to walk away from it all.

  • A year or so ago, our little SSPX chapel held a 25th anniversary picnic.  Fr. Novak honored us with an amazing sermon and hosted a picnic.  Not only did we learn he was an amazing priest, very holy, we learned he is quite charismatic and funny.  We spoke to him.  He was warm and incredible.

We also learned from others than know him closely from his time as their priest that he has some health issues.  What must an aging priest with health issues who needs health insurance do in this current crisis?

I can see a practical reason for his hesitation to be open and frank.

My husband and I were just speaking of this a few nights ago and wondering if Fr. Novak actually leaving the Society would be a catalyst for change.  Who knows?

We continue to pray for him, for both his physical health and spiritual health.

I don't know about this one Wessex. I know that what you say must be true in many cases, however, there are many priests, I'm sure, who are still very good men who have decided to remain within the Society to this point. Though I support the resistance, I still attend Society masses. The priest we have locally is a good and holy man- there is no denying this. I don't believe he is the type of priest to cave in on important issues, but I see him as tending to his flock in the best way he believes how. If you or I were priest, would we do differently? Perhaps. But I can fault no man for trying his best; and I think there are many good men who are members of the society trying their best now. There is no crystal ball and, as much as we'd love to believe it, there is no clear cut right solution for everyone everywhere now. This is going to take time and our Blessed Lord to sort out fully.

    I disagree S2srea.

Fr. Pfeiffer is a perfect example of a holy priest that talks the talk, walks the walk, AND delivers the goods. He did this while he was within the SSPX and continues while out.

His #1 priority is to SAVE SOULS and he does this without any concern to his personal needs/health or whatever obstacles that are in his path......one can plainly see that Fr. has put all his trust in God's Hands and just goes wherever souls are in of need. Sadly, this is what's lacking in many priests of today.

There IS a clear cut solution.......put all our trust in God and firmly believe that He will provide ALL that is necessary for us to be on the right path (especially in this crisis). The problems arise when we try and do things on our own and end up rejecting all the graces (seen & unseen) that God contnuously Blesses us with.

And I agree with the choice that Father has made in this instance. I would also hope for the same in ALL priests of the society.

Again, there is no disagreement on your premise here again. However, the conclusion is what may be different. Whose to say that the priest at the chapel I attend isn't doing just that (placing his trust in God)? I would argue, he is. Does he have a different view point in this matter, in terms of how to proceed? Yes. Is he troubled? From what I can tell, yes. Does this make him weak in any way? No. I don't believe that there is only one road to get us where we need to go- and that's okay.

Its like the sede/ non-sede situation we're faced with right now. Sede's think and believe they're doing the right thing, and hold the right position. Non-sede's feel the same. Are their Hopes and Faith in the same thing? Yes. Are they taking a different 'roads' in getting there?

  • As Fr Boyle once stated the laity should not meddle in the politics of the SSPX.

In the coming days I hope to write a few letters of enquiry regarding suitable properties for the Mass.

Whilst I support the resistance the internal business of the SSPX is their business.

Any money I have available goes to Fr Pfeiffer. I quit giving the SSPX money the day I sent them back their magazine on a point of principle.

This SSPX crisis is about the FAITH -not "politics".

In the 2012 General Chapter's 6-conditions, they are willing to put us faithful under the Novus Ordo conciliar Bishops.  Etc...

If we go to the SSPX chapels, receive the Sacraments, go to their schools, and listen to their sermons, we have every right to be involved in what is going on in the direction of the new-orientation with conciliar Rome.

So it is in our "business" to know what is going on in the SSPX.

The SSPX was always transparent -until recently- that in it self says a lot!  Since, as we are finding out, we are being betrayed!

Is it really the work of God...or the temptation of the devil?
