This crisis in the SSPX brought to mind a video promoting the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate that was posted (and then taken down) on the La Porte Latine, the French SSPX District's official website. I believe this video was posted on the website sometime in late 2010, but I am not certain about the timeframe. What I am certain about is that it was posted on the website at one point and then taken down. It may have been taken down because of complaints. In February 2011, I e-mailed the webmaster of La Porte Latine (and a few SSPX priests) about this to ask why this was posted on the website given that the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate are a pseudo-Traditional group in which the priests celebrate both the Novus Ordo Missae and the Traditional Latin Mass. I did not receive a response from the webmaster the first time, so I wrote again and again and never received a response. I also did not receive a response from any of the SSPX priests. At the same time, I sent a letter to the Capuchins in Morgon about this. I did receive a response and was just basically informed that La Porte Latine had made a mistake. Some mistake!

This is just another piece of evidence of the neo-SSPX's direction towards Modernist Rome.

English speaking faithful should be interested to hear that a fairly clear stance seems to be forming here in France.
Towards the end of last year, strangely council-friendly content, notably a selection of hand-picked and out of context 1970's quotes from Archbishop Lefebvre and a recruitment video by the Italian Franciscans of the Immaculate had been appearing on the district website La Porte Latine. The video was even subtitled in French FOR the La Porte Latine!
Several laymen and priests complained and thankfully the site was tidied up. Fr de Cacqueray then issued his 19th January statement and this week 2 other French priest's condemnations of Assisi and the J-P II scandals have been added to the site.
Father Dominique Rousseau, headmaster of the Society school "L'Etoile du Matin" decided to publish his bulletin a full month ahead of schedule to highlight "the urgence and necessity to keep watch in the night", stating that "we are living in times of the Apocalypse and cannot remain silent before such scandal". The other text, by Father Jean-Yves Tranchet, is a strong and unequivocal warning about the risk to our Faith with regards VII, the direction of Benedict XVI, the Motu Proprio, etc.
From conversations with priests here in France, there seems to be a pretty unanimous and reassuring lucidity about the direction we might expect most to follow. If the SSPX is heading down the road of Vatican II, then there will be a great many priests, perhaps a large majority, saying NO!
