You need to get involved

  • Sorry, but I hate when "Christians" say they shouldn't get involved w/ "politics" or what I call generally "the public forum"

they think it is somehow evil or maybe beneath them or both to run for office. True, i wouldn't want to run for office either, mostly bc I don't have the millions it takes to do that. But also, I am a private person and don't want the whole world knowing this/that about me.. although in this day and age with all the technological "advances" maybe that's moot anyway?

In any case, I can u/stand why a Christian would not want to be involved w/ the ugly thing known as politics. But when you don't get involved, "un-Christian" things happen.. like the baker who was forced to jettison his Christian beliefs or lose his business and I could give example after example.

Catholics, please get involved. We Catholics know more about God than anyone (assuming you go to Mass at least on Sunday, etc). We have to let God rule in the public forum.. otherwise the devil wins by default.

As they say in the 12 step program

    Thanks for listening

oh, i forgot: You can start by joining the school board. I may just take my own advice there.. The problem is, although I have been walking w/ Jesus (and his Church) for many yrs now, I had a very sinful past.. but you know, if we were to judge people by their past, no one would be on the school board.. eh? no one except Franklin Graham.. Cardinal Burke.. :-\

  • Holy Church has always encouraged the faithful to be involved in the life of society. Saint Augustine in "The City of God" speaks extensively on this subject.

However beware of politicizing the Faith or turning worldly matters into spiritual matters. "Do not throw pearls to the pigs".

well, i have a few questions about that last thing.. pearls and swine

if i talk t someone about the Lord and His ONE Church..  and they start foaming @ the mouth, i take that as a sign I probably should not preach to that person

But what if someone just likes to argue and doesn't like Catholics? Well, sometimes you end the conversation, sometimes not. Sometimes we have to change our approach, which i think some people are not willing to do.. it's like "I'm right! So there is no need to change.."

well, we have to learn to meet people where they're at

it is not their fault they are where they are at... at least not 100% anyhow

Join the school board?  Just curious, are you from the US?  In my state at least, one must be elected to the school board.  You can't just join.  Some meetings are open to the community, but most are not.  I'd say the chances of a traditional Catholic getting elected to the school board are exactly zero.  Where I live, the public schools are run almost entirely by liberal Jєωs.

well, you are probably right about a true Catholic not being elected. But sometimes it may be best to hide the fact you are a practicing Catholic--until elected?
I mean that is not dishonest bc Catholics have beliefs in common w/ other Christians. It is not like we believe in--oh, i don't know--jihad?

  • Good luck with that one.  I've seen school board meetings where people who wanted to ban pornographic books from the library were escorted off the premises by police.  As the psalmist writes: They have stopped their ears like a stubborn snake...
WAKE UP, LOOK UP AND SEE THE CHEMTRAILS.
