In every big city in the US, the poor are shoved to one part of town. The shelters are there, the soup kitchens, etc. I would like to live in a society where there is no need of such things. There are people who do not like going to these (sometimes) not-too-clean  places... I thank the volunteers who help the poor. I think they are heroes a lot of the time. But there is something very wrong when people are treated unequally compared to  another group of people. The rich live in great neighborhoods, and the poor are essentially told not to go there EVER.

Obama was wrong on so many things but he had an idea that interested me: letting those with low income housing assistance live among the wealthy, not just in one part of town. I would not want anti-American ideals and practices employed to accomplish that... but there are other ways, presumably. Low-income people have many problems that frankly, no American should have... no human being, Period.

Taxes should be used to help people first. To heck w/ infrastructure, esp federal highways, which some are proposing we spend even more billions on.. It is the local roads that are in great need of repair anyway, and that should be up to local govtment.  There needs to be more low-income housing available, and i am NOT talking about HUD places... I am talking about just cheap housing that puts a simple roof over someone's head, something NOT free but low-cost. I doubt it will ever happen b/c the hotel & apt owners would have a COW (all that "competetition) ...

The rich are often very greedy and put $$ over human beings...

It looks like maybe people here dislike the poor about as much as the elite in DC do
