  • we should only target the ones who are violent

If that had been done in Florida, that sch shooting would never have happened. The FBI had been notified about this dangerous, unstable "man" (ha ha to that term). Local law enforcement had been notified over and over and he (Cruz) even admitted he wanted to shoot up a school!!!
Now, of course, law abiding "mentally ill" are about to lose their rights..

but now the disturbed but non-violent  cannot protect themselves, if the libs have hteir way

and so they will probably become more "mentally ill" (fear)

    sigh

Those **%$# "Republicans" who always kowtow to the Left one way or another!

What is the real problem with the argument that forbids guns for anyone who is mentally ill?

Since psychiatrists and psychologists have already labeled most sane behaviors as signs of mental illness, most of us could technically be classified as mentally ill.

For example, many psychiatrists believe that allergies are a sign of mental illness. Search the Internet, and you will notice that the incidents of allergies have increased in our population, especially with children.

Most doctors ascribe symptoms of Lyme Disease as symptoms of mental illness. Interestingly, Dr. Mercola and others have stated that Lyme Disease like syphilis is caused by a spirochete. Lyme Disease like syphilis can be transmitted by sex. Lyme Disease like syphilis can cause violent homicidal behavior in the end stages of the disease.

Many psychiatrists consider that those who ascribe to conspiracy theories are paranoid schizophrenic.

Take the MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory) and you most likely will have a crazy score due to your belief in God and in Hell. Not surprising, the MMPI was written by atheists.

    I could go on.

Worst of all, the drugs prescribed for mental illness themselves are a trigger for ѕυιcιdє or homicide.
    Lord have mercy.

  • I agree with maria regina.  It disturbs me that trump wants to emphasize mental health and play along with that narrative.  I agree with the bumpstock ban.  But, I am willing to go even further.  I personally would consider not allowing any weapons currently in use by US military to be owned or used by anyone who is not active military.  And, I would consider requiring gun schooling or a retired military status for ownership of retired military weapons.  Too many civilians do stupid things when they get a military weapon in their hands.  And, vice versa.  Too many military do stupid things when at war with weapons commonly used as gunrange toys by their populace.  And, being that I consider a semi automatic weapon to be superior to an automatic weapon, I really do not shed tears over automatic weapons bans.

thanks.. always good to read informative posts. I didn't know that about Lyme disease
I knew that those who postulate conspiracy theories are looked upon as nuts... and yet ... well, let's just say that i myself look upon those who never see cօռspιʀαcιҽs or possible ones are the crazy ones.. The more you know about what's going on in the world, the more you tend toward conspiracy theories, it seems.
Yes, the main point of my thread was that if a given group can be termed mentally ill and so lose their 2nd Amendment right, well, we all know where that goes... Anyone the libs (who could be in power in the future obviously) find "mentally ill" will lose their guns... and
    hey,
don't they think all of us Conservatives are mental?
    Wake up, America!
Stop the liberals (aka Satanists)! And no, I am not being an extremist in saying that. If Satan exists (and some of us know he does) well... he could not be more Satan-like than the liberals (baby killing, perversity in sex [ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖity] etc...)

I agree w/ everything you say. the only problem is that once the libs get a certain type of weapon banned, you know what comes next.. they will ask that another type is banned and it could go on who know how long
You know.. in a liberal geographical area (where big gov is not seen as bad), it is presumably easier to can get certified for SSI for  a mental impairment than in  conservative areas.  Again, the point is that liberals in power can term anyone they want as mentally ill. The term is so subjective as to be essentially meaningless. Instead of talking about depriving the "mentally ill" of guns, we should be focused on keeping guns out of the hands of violent psychopaths (the Christ-less folks, although not all who disbelieve in Jesus are evil... um... I suppose )
