I tend to think Jesus is talking to ALL humans when he says that
all save those who REALLY love Jesus... which in my experience is VERy, VERY few
I have known a lot of "vipers" in my life...

He was specifically talking about the Jews... Paul's race.

And of Our Lord's race.  

In your Missal, codified and prayed at the end of every Mass is:
[John 1:11] He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

Catholics who want to spin this some other way as to deflect responsibility on the jews are "judaized" Catholics.

As the little Saint Bernadette told us, her only fear in the world was "bad Catholics".
