  • The poor are poor in large part bc society does not care about their problems

But remember: Jesus was poor, never owned a home etc

  • don't confuse receiving money (entitlements, so called) with getting help

anything that causes a person to be dependent on the government or encourages dependency is about as crappy a deal as you can get...

The govt should help those who cannot help themselves

but throwing money at them and then walking away is NOT going to help

I like the way Paul Ryan is focused on this issue... although I can't say I have studied all his ... well, vote record or his ideas about it...

  • I know 2 people who have exceptionally high IQs

and they educate themselves, rather than go for formal education.. although one has been to college (no degree)

Thse people's talents go to waste because

they are homeless or one step away from it.

they spend all their time and energy on just "making a living"

That is the big shame of the poverty problem in this country... It has not enabled people, really, to have the means w/ which to explore and develop their talent.

These people could "serve their country" in a non-military (or even military) way and yet... again, their resources are spent on survival. I am not saying everything in life should be totally and completely "equal" That is unrealistic and un-American... But good grief... something needs to change

  • I am totally convinced the reason no one as responded to this post is that most people couldn't care less about the disadvantaged. They would if they themselves were ever in their shoes.. boy, would they care THEN

if you will never be in those shoes, consider yourself blessed..

    um... wait... maybe not

maybe it is true what the Word says... that... well, Jesus was poor, let's just put it that way
