  • Opponents of the party forced the hotel to cancel the launch. The humble political network I belong to is independent of this new party but happy to support their initiatives. Opponents have set up fake Facebook pages so be cautious when communicating. The leader of the party is a Traditional Catholic.

Fáilte, you're very welcome to the official page of The National Party, a new Political Party that espouses the true spirit of the Republic, Catholic at heart.
For too long the moral, cultural and spiritual values of Ireland has been allowed to denigrate at the hands of successive Liberal governments pandering to the decree of a tyrannical cabal of European federalists.

The very heart and soul of old Ireland has been eroded,
With waves of endless immigration distorting our national identity
The moral decline of our very society through relentless separation of Church and State where children grow up in godless destructive households.
And increasing attacks on the fundamental right to life of our unborn children.
We say No More! The time is now to make Ireland Irish again and a return to our inherent Christian values.

The National Party promises to be the one party, loyal to the Republic and a sovereign people, dedicated to unity by consent, that one party committed to real and sustainable economic growth, that one party which will speak for the great silent majority who have seen the beginnings of “multi-culturalism” with growing dismay, that one party who will represent that so basic of equalities, the equal right to be alive, that party is the National Party.
    Faith, Family and Nation

  • Two reactions on a Catholic forum in Ireland.

I regret to inform everyone that Justin Barrett is back, and has started up a new party called the National Party. Details are very sketchy, but here is their manifesto for what it's worth:

Needless to say, I strongly oppose this movement, as all this will do is paint a target on Catholics and pro-lifers, which will only lead to our further marginalisation in our society, especially when plans are afoot to destroy what remains of the protection for the unborn. More analysis later

The alliance of nationalism and Catholicism is always dangerous-- nationalism inevitably takes precedence. I do not think the Faith should be politicized.

I always wonder how people like Justin Barrett make their living. Who has time and money to devote to microparties that will inevitably fail?

Agreed that the Faith must not be used in a tribal manner. As for how he does it, I'm not concerned too much about that as I am about this stunt exposing us to further attacks on our relgious and conscientuous freedom, as all the liberals and pro-aborts have to do is point to the National Party, and hey presto, people who might be won over to us will now be driven away. What on earth does Mr. Barrett think this will achieve? As for ourselves, all we can do is make crystal clear that we want nothing to do with his party and that it does not represent Catholics or pro-lifers.

Asked about his previous membership of Youth Defence, Mr Barrett said: “I was fired by them. I’m no longer a member. They didn’t like that I didn’t like some of the things they were saying.”

Like many in Tradition Mr Barrett was treated badly by pro-life group Youth Defence. I do commend this pro-life group but they were never ideal though many in Tradition gravitated to them. The early days of Youth Defence were good but the group went soft. Fellow pro-lifers, who opposed them now believe the group has changed. A criticism of the good old days is perhaps they didn't prepare their activists for action. Hopefully their new activists won't get disheartened. If not prepared properly they will sink.

    About Us

The National Party exists to articulate a vision, to communicate that vision to the Irish people and to  seek a mandate from them. We are not a single issue party but will put forward a full range of social and economic policies.

We contend that the interests of the Irish people take priority above the interests of internationalists, high-financiers and distant technocrats. We contend that the first duty of an Irish government is to an Irish people and that this duty can only be served by the National Idea. Ireland cannot simply be a transport hub for a global citizenry. It must be rooted, coherent and authentic to itself.

We do not find it acceptable that the Irish people be burdened with exorbitant debt, that our children must leave to find work, or that replacement level immigration goes unquestioned and unremarked upon by our politicians. We do not accept the rampancy of organised crime as the new normality.

We have lost patience with the fey, weak-willed, hypocritical word-games of our elected representatives, our media conglomerates, our intelligentsia, who couch their class-interests in vague, nebulous slogans. We are not interested in syrupy catchwords like “diversity” and “openness.” We are interested in their very real consequences.

For behind the cute slogans and phrases, people are suffering. Suffering because they cannot afford a home, or the rent of a home. Cannot afford to start a family or support a partner. Suffering because their community is no longer safe or because they no longer recognise their community. Suffering because the family values of 2016 mean that more and more Irish people will die alone, childless in a nursing home, tended to by cheap imported labour.

We have established this party so that the Irish people have a choice. They can choose, if they wish, for a different future. Not the “all against all” of the global mono-culture but the “august destiny” of the National Idea.

    We believe that:

A state which cannot ensure the security of its population from marauding gangs and drug traffickers, or which shrinks from enacting long sentences for violent crimes, is serving interests other than those of the Irish people.

A state which cannot house its own people, but commits itself (on borrowed money) to house large numbers of refugees, is playing to the galleries of a theatre other than the Irish nation.
A state top-heavy with bureaucracy, nepotism and cosy handshakes, will never address the root of any problem, because most of the time, it is the problem.

An economy which relies for its maintenance on unsustainable emigration or immigration, cannot serve a nation. For the nation, in such a case, is serving the gluttony or paucity of an economy.
A governing class which takes its cues from foreign think-tanks, foreign NGOs, foreign newspapers and foreign banking institutions cannot serve a nation. Because its interests and those of the nation no longer coincide.

We have seen the centenary year of Irish independence, and we have seen much pageantry, much pontificating, much vying for ownership of an event which no major party in Ireland does justice or honour to. It is the contention of the Left, it seems, that the Rising of 1916 was 'internationalist' in character. Very progressive. Were they correct, it would lead us to believe that the martyrs of 1916 were anti-Irish, just as so many Republicans of 2016 are anti-Irish to their core. Because internationalism, or globalism, call it what you will, is anti-Irish. Because it opposes the nation. And Ireland is a nation.

We are for Ireland. We are for the Irish people. We are for their ownership of this island.

    National Party Principles
The National Party believes that the territory of Ireland consists of the whole island of Ireland, its islands and the territorial seas.

The National Party believes strongly in the principle of a Constitutional Republic, founded on individual personal freedoms, rights and responsibilities. We reject and resist a totalitarianism whose essence is found in the totality of State power and the exercise of State authority, and not the ideological direction of that totality.

The National Party believes that the State is the crucible and natural patrimony of the Nation. The State ought not, therefore, be the master of the Nation, but the Nation the master of the State. It follows that the State should act at all times and in every instance, in the interests of the Nation, embodied in one indivisible Irish people.

The National Party recognises the centripetal tendency of the bureaucratic State and its inevitable deleterious consequences in the quality and quantity of State level decision making. We therefore believe that a firm commitment to the principle and application of subsidiarity must be a central tenet of Government at every level.

The National Party approaches our membership of the European Union from the principle of refusing to accept the threatened destruction of our Nations freedom, and will endeavour to restore those freedoms which have already, unjustly, been given away.

The National Party believes in an aristocracy of achievement within a democracy of opportunity, practised and established economically by the strong advocacy of Free Productive Enterprise. Consequently we endorse the inalienable right to the ownership of Private Property, and shall defend that right against the equally dangerous encroachment of both State Socialism and Monopoly Capitalism.

The National Party opposes unrestricted immigration, placing above all the preservation of national identity and culture as the bedrock of a principled patriotism.
The National Party insists that no law should permit the provision of Abortion in Ireland.

The National Party demands a complete reform of our criminal justice system, placing the protection of society from criminality as its imperative value, up to and including restoration of the Death Penalty for particularly heinous crimes.
