    • Who was actually responsible for the assassination of President John F. Kennedy? It seems to me Lyndon B. Johnson was the major player in it.

    • One theory is the Mafia - because they got him his election by fixing the votes in his favor in Chicago.  Then he double crossed them by letting his Atty. General brother, Robert, go after them during the Kennedy Administration.

    yeh, i heard about that vote fixing thing, but not a lot of details. Is there a book about that? or some reporter who knows more? just curious.
    Did Kennedy really think he would escape the mob? did he think being pres would protect him? I think it was the Mob also... What about Marilyn Monroe? weird how they didn't solve that one, realy

    BTW, does everyone know the story (and correct me if I am wrong), that the "bible" LBJ is swearing his oath on in the famous airplane picture, with Jackie next to him, is actually a Latin Mass missal?

    He wanted to wait until this particular (woman) judge could come and swear him in, and meanwhile everyone was hunting around for a bible for him to use.

    At the time, Air Force One was still full of Kennedy staff, and all that could be found was a missal someone had.  So, they used it.

    Theory I heard was the mob was furious that Kennedy was closing off Cuba to U.S. travel and imposing other economic sanctions; this would hurt mob business big time. Refer to The God Father movie and Meyer Lansky's true-life business interests there. Then there is Bobby Kennedy's assassination: theory here that as Atty-Gen he was thinking of exposing his brother's murderers. Silenced him for good.
